About fifteen years ago my aunt owned an old three-story brick house that had a spirit ghost residing in the premises with her. Through the years my aunt lived there, she learned the spirit was a woman who had lost her young infant to a childhood disease. Scarlet fever, I believe...
My aunt enjoyed entertaining and hosting parties. I remember being there one Christmas evening when I went to the second level to use the restroom. Alone (duh). While doing my thing, I suddenly felt a brush of cold air sweep over me that chilled me to my core! I hurriedly made my way back dowstairs where the rest of the relatives were.
Later that same evening my aunt wanted to show me something in the guest bedroom on the second floor. While sitting on the bed in the guest room, my aunt's cat kept looking at something behind me. But there wasn't anybody else there besides my aunt. And me, of course. All of a sudden the cat meowed loudly and ran out of the room. What the hell was that?!
Several times throughout the years my aunt that lived at the haunted house asked me to stay overnight with her, all the while assuring me the ghost spirit was friendly and would do me no harm. I kindly passed!
Would you have stayed?

Wow, that would be so scary! It seems like the cat was giving you a warning not to stay there!
Cats have nine lives and psychic abilities!
Ever notice how cats sometimes gaze for long periods of time at something that isn't there, at least not to the human eye? They see things @jayna
How did your aunt know that the spirits are friendly and meant no harm? Did she talk a lot to them? I can't imagine how could she stayed in the haunted house for years. She might've been so brave.
Apparently my aunt did extensive research to find out who had lived in the house decades earlier. From that information was able to locate a relative living in the area who told her the name of the woman, the story about the infant dying and how the mother never was the same again afterwards. The ghost spirit did random things such as causing dolls my aunt kept in the guest room for her granddaughter to fall from the child sized rocking chair and shelves where they were kept. Never anything malicious though @sigota
Wow, seems like a horror movie scene. Never anything malicious is nice, but still better stay out of it, rite? You did the right choice not to stay overnight. Thanks for sharing the story. I love to read a real horror story, but I don't wanna run into it myself 🙈

That is rather freaky and scary. I remember one house I was in where the stereo speakers would hum when the stereo wasn't powered on. I justified it by attributing it to the magnets in the speakers.
I'm not sure, if I was in your shoes, if I would have stayed or not. Great story!
This sounds a lot like my paternal grandparents house - spooky central! So to answer your question, yes I would have stayed, since it would be just more of the same for me...lol!
Great Halloween story, Nina and I think it's extra cool your aunt did some digging to figure out who might be behind the haunting. And as much as I enjoyed your story, I have to say my favorite part was your gorgeously scary moon behind the tree photo at the end - beautifully atmospheric capture!
I would have went if that was the only issue. I guess I always agreed with old Huck Finn when he said, "I don't take no stock in dead people."
