Bathroom tiles- acrylic on paper, 35 x 45 cm, December 2023.
First I made a tile "print" using the frotage technique.
This paper was too thick for that, but it was enough to see the shapes. That saved me a lot of time and I'm sure without this print something else would have come out of it 😅
I thought to leave some spaces with the charcoal drawing, but then I colored everything.

It worked out OK after all. Maybe try it out on other surfaces, but use a softer paper, 90 weight maybe. If after you want to paint on it, mount it onto a paintboard with acrylic medium, then use fixative and medium over top to seal the charcoal. Oil over acrylic works OK.
But even just the charcoal could be interesting. Years ago it was a trend to make gravestone rubbings.
