New life of painting - Ophelia -

in OnChainArt3 years ago (edited)

New life of the painting ( watercolor), or how #nfts changed my art.

Well, they didn't change it so much but they gave me a new perspective what else can be done with art I paint. How something I painted in traditional way can be brought to life again and again, each time in some new way and still remaining true to the first concept that was made.

Here is the original image from where it all started.

Watercolor was inspired with idea of representation of calmness, inner piece and dreams.

Watercolor is not an easy tehnique and can be challenging.

But, here comes the twist...when you start playing and turning into digital, than the real fun starts.

Here is the final outcome of digitally edited watercolor. I do all my edits in Photoshop.

I play with it in so many ways, cutting, editing, drawing...all the things I feel will bring new life to art.

Also there is beautiful poem that goes with this one :

Ophelia

On the calm black water where the stars are sleeping
White Ophelia floats like a great lily;
Floats very slowly, lying in her long veils...
In the far-off woods you can hear them sound the mort.

For more than a thousand years sad Ophelia
Has passed, a white phantom, down the long black river.
For more than a thousand years her sweet madness
Has murmured its ballad to the evening breeze.

The wind kisses her breasts and unfolds in a wreath
Her great veils rising and falling with the waters;
The shivering willows weep on her shoulder,
The rushes lean over her wide, dreaming brow.

The ruffled water-lilies are sighing around her;
At times she rouses, in a slumbering alder,
Some nest from which escapes a small rustle of wings;
A mysterious anthem falls from the golden stars.

O pale Ophelia! beautiful as snow!
Yes child, you died, carried off by a river!
It was the winds descending from the great mountains of Norway
That spoke to you in low voices of better freedom.

It was a breath of wind, that, twisting your great hair,
Brought strange rumors to your dreaming mind;
It was your heart listening to the song of Nature
In the groans of the tree and the sighs of the nights;

It was the voice of mad seas, the great roar,
That shattered your child's heart, too human and too soft;
It was a handsome pale knight, a poor madman
Who one April morning sate mute at your knees!

Heaven! Love! Freedom! What a dream, oh poor crazed Girl!
You melted to him as snow does to a fire;
Your great visions strangled your words
And fearful Infinity terrified your blue eye!

And the poet says that by starlight
You come seeking, in the night, the flowers that you picked
And that he has seen on the water, lying in her long veils
White Ophelia floating, like a great lily.

Beautiful work :)

Thank you so much!

I'm in love with the last one. The dragonflies are adorable details. The colours are beautiful. Well done!

Thank you, glad you find it successful :)

amazing! ❤️

She is gorgeous. I composed a song called the call of the nymph, which mansions precisely dragonflies. As usual stunning work, this is truly so delicate. I still have not decoded the whole nft thing but now that my thumb sprained is better I am encouraged to paint again, so I don't honestly know where to start. I guess I have to delve a little. Once again this is so beautiful, fairytale material

Thank you and it's great you are coming back to painting.

My thumb sprain is almost good but late October I was involved in a car crash and though collision was mild I am rehabbing a whiplash so sitting at the desk in my ancient tablet is changelling haha, so I am quietly doodling traditionals on my sketchbook to regain ability, will be sharing some of the doodles soon.
I feel still a bit clumsy lol 🤣 but guess it is all get going

Doodling can be fun and sometimes some great art can be born from them. Sorry to hear about car accident, hope soon everything will come back to normal.

Thank you,it has been dome strange couple of years. And agreed, sometimes I find a freshness in my doodles that I feel to translate into the refined drawing

I am so glad to see your works again. Just onboarded here on hive

That's beautiful!

And nice to see you back again!

Nice to see you too :) So happy seeing you here and hope I will be more active than I was.

True, painting with watercolors is a difficult endeavor. However, as soon as you begin to feel the flow, you will discover that you enjoy it. You've done a fantastic job. !PIZZA

Such an incredible artwork. I just love it! Very inspirational.
God bless you my dear friend @jungwatercolor

Thank you, enjoying your blogs too :)

OMG, this is so magical!

Absolutely beautiful, @jungwatercolor I like the both original version and digital one. As I am recently working with watercolor, it is really hard to paint such beautiful realistic portrait like yours, acrylic is easier then watercolor i feel. Your new painting transformation is worth naming 'ophelia' as alive soul.

Thank you for your kind words. yes, watercolor can be challenging since there is no UNDO in it :) And you can't go layer over layer like in other tehniques. But that's the beauty of it.

very nice theme ,I am surprising read the post.
