Hello, lovelies! I hope you're fine!
I'm still working on job listings. Meanwhile, trying to improve myself and add to my portfolio, I started trying out making 2D game assets. Today's subject is one of those, too! My first independent try was a simple wooden crate, I didn't think it was worth sharing. This is my second experiment, a poison vial! I wanted to make some potion bottles in various sizes and this is the smallest one. Honestly, I didn't think I could make this work out but here we are! I like it! Not bad for a first try I guess.

As always, here's the progress! The sketch was a super simple one. The first sketch was even messier and simpler, but I erased that one and ended up with this one.

At first, I wanted to make a lineart, because I thought it would be simpler and easier that way. But honestly, I don't like making digital linearts, hahaha. So, after just a few brush strokes, I gave up and turned to blocking out the shapes, thinking it could be better. That one was a right choice apparently.

Because the most opaque thing (instead of the cap ofc) would be the liquid, I blocked out that one next and started detailing from there, with highlights and shadows, using airbrush.

I decided to add bubbles to it since the green color felt like poison and a bubbling potion sure looks more dangerous.

Then I added some textures and cracks to the bottle cap.

At last it was time to work on the glass, so I started out with shadows. What makes glass a glass is the highlights, after all.

And the highlights! I added a little bit of outer glow in liliac. It's not very visible but it sure changes a lot of things.

The vial needed some detailing, so I added an informative paper there. It's a poison after all, it needs a label so it's not mistakenly taken.

And that's it! I didn't expect it to be good, but I'm pretty happy (and surprised) by the result! It sure can be better, but, it's acceptable for the first try I believe. I hope you like it too!
Thank you for viewing!
See you on the next post!

🔥😍Awe this is amazing, fantastic work. Sure looks a poison val, something the evil queen wished she had to give snowhite and be the fairest of them all in the land😁
Bravo!🔥
Haha, I sure was thinking the same with Snow White and Evil Queen. I guess Disney movies coded the green = evil in my mind. Thank youuu <3
💗😍🔥
That's really good. Would love !LUV to learn how to do that. I appreciate seeing the process. Think I need to add that to my list of should learns. Thanks for sharing.

This is so fun and incredible! Good job!
I like the details, and good thing you decided to add the bubbles. It really looks more toxic and dangerous!
I know, right! It's quite interesting that some little details change the whole look. Thank you! Glad you liked it!
@isangelous Yeah! I'm no artist but completely agree with you!
