Hello everyone, today I want to show you a drawing I was working on this day. It took me about 4 hours. I've been feeling more connected to this animal lately, so I bought a raven-themed deck. It is actually a very wise animal that transmits its wisdom from generation to generation through its DNA.
I read about this in the tiny book that came with my crow tarot by MJ Cullinane, it says:
''The energy of the ravens is intense and mystical. In some cultures, they are recognized as shapeshifters, with the ability to turn into other animals or humans. Ravens never forget a face, and if we are open to them, they will let us connect with their soul in a very beautiful way. Like humans, ravens can hold grudges for a lifetime, and they also pass down their stories to warn future generations of the dangers around them.''
Hola a todos, hoy quiero mostrarles un dibujo en el que estuve trabajando este día. Me tomó apróximadamente 4 horas. Últimamente me he sentido más conectada con este animal, por eso compré un mazo con temática de cuervos. En realidad es un animal muy sabio que transmite su sabiduría de generación a generación a través de su ADN.
Leí sobre esto en el pequeño libro que vino con mi tarot de cuervo por MJ Cullinane, dice:
''La energía de los cuervos es instensa y mística. En algunas culturas, son reconocidos como cambiadores de pieles, con la habilidad de convertirse en otros animales o en seres humanos. Los cuervos nunca olvidan una cara, y si estamos abiertos a ellos, nos dejarán conectar con su alma de una manera muy hermosa. Al igual que los humanos, los cuervos pueden ser rencorosos durante toda una vida, y también transmiten sus historias para advertir a las futuras generaciones sobre los peligros a su alrededor.''
Drawing step by step / Dibujo paso a paso
First, I searched for crow pics to take some reference and I chose this one:
Primero, busqué varias fotos sobre cuervos para tomar alguna de referencia y elegí esta:
1. First sketch of the bird / Primer boceto del ave
For sketches I usually use a 3H pencil because its line is very clear and does not leave stains when erased.
Para los bocetos suelo usar un lápiz 3H porque su trazo es muy claro y no deja manchas al borrarlo.
2. Start by the raven's head / Inicio por la cabeza del cuervo
At this point I start to use a 3B pencil which is what I use to fill in the entire drawing together with a 5B for the parts with more shadow.
En este punto comienzo a usar un lápiz 3B que es el que uso para rellenar todo el dibujo en conjunto con uno 5B para las partes con más sombra.
3. Neck and light
As I went down to the neck I was thinking how to give that light and make the feathers. I must admit that I improvised a large part of the drawing because the reference image only worked for the anatomy of the animal.
A medida que bajaba hacia el cuello pensaba cómo dar esa luminosidad y hacer las plumas. Debo admitir que improvisé en gran pate del dibujo porque la imágen de referencia me funciono sólo para la anatomía del animal.
4. How I'm going to make his chest if it's all black? 😂 / Y ahora cómo voy a hacer su pecho si es todo negro? 😂
Here it was complicated because I wanted to make it look as realistic as possible, I made a sketch of what would be the feathers attached to its body. It's body looks like a eagle here.😂
Aquí fue complicado porque quería hacerlo ver lo más realista posible, hice boceto de lo que serian las plumas pegadas a su cuerpo. Su cuerpo parece de un águila aquí.😂
5. Shade the chest, it looks much better now / Darle sombra al pecho, se ve mucho mejor ahora
Here I started using the 8B pencil which is the darkest I have to add even more shadow and realism to the body of the raven and its chest, which by the way after making each feather I used a pencil to darken it even more.
Aquí comencé a usar el lápiz 8B que es el más oscuro que tengo para añadir aún más sombra y realismo al cuerpo del cuervo y a su pecho, que por cierto luego de hacer cada pluma le pasé un lápiz para oscurecer aun más.
6. Raven is almost ready / El cuervo está casi listo
Here I made his legs, which have nails that look like claws. By the way, it is perched on a crescent moon.
Aquí hice sus patitas, que tiene unas uñas que parecen garras. Por cierto está posado sobre una luna creciente.
7. Finished the raven but seems to be missing something / Finalicé el cuervo pero parece que le falta algo
After finishing the raven I thought about adding more realism or depth to the moon and also at the last minute I thought of putting some flowers on it.
Luego de terminar el cuervo pensé en agregarle más realismo o profundidad a la luna y además al último minuto se me ocurrió ponerle unas flores.
8. Looking good and beautiful with these flowers / Se va viendo más hermoso con esas flores
For the flowers I used the 3B pencil for the shadows, the 6B for the darkest and a 3H to outline the sketch.
Para las flores usé el lápiz 3B para las sombras, el 6B para lo más oscuro y uno 3H para delinear el boceto.
9. Ready! / Listo!!
This is the finished drawing, I added shadow to the moon as I said before and the flowers for the last touch.
Este es el dibujo finalizado, le agregué sombra a la luna como dije antes y las flores para el último toque.
