“A woman should cover up her body to be respected”
“A woman should be a virgin before marriage”
“A woman should know the chores to be useful to her future husband”

These are just some of the things I’ve been told to since I was a child. I didn’t understand why, but I trusted the adults that what they were saying was right. As I grew older, I realized it was all bullshit.

As I stared at my naked body in the mirror, I saw an individual capable of making her own decisions. Putting on my favorite bra and panties, an idea just popped into my head.

These undergarments aren’t just some piece of clothing that cover and support our genitals - they are the strongest symbol of body ownership. It’s the most personal and intimate thing that we own. I mean, you wouldn’t let someone else borrow it, right? You won’t let others make a decision about how much lace you would want for your bra and how many polkadots you would want for your panties.

Only the wearer makes all the decisions. Sounds familiar? No. Because we aren’t there yet.

In today’s times, there are still norms and even laws to obsessively control and regulate women’s bodies. Somebody else would still want to have a say about what the heck we wanna do with our bodies.

Women deserve to have freedom and autonomy over their own bodies.

Happy Women's Month!

Thank you so much <3

Well written, the story really gives power to the art. We woman should do whatever the fuck we want. It shouldn't matter what man or even other woman think about it.

Exactly. So tired of other people trying to control us. Thank you!

There is still a lot of prejudice when it comes to what women should show or be in front of a man. In some countries women still cover their face and hair. In other countries nobody judges you if you walk bare naked on the streets. We still have a lot to learn in this area.

So true. If women want to cover their body, that's okay. If they want to show it, that's okay too. There should be no shame with having a choice. We've come a long way though so we are seeing progress even if it's slow.

Beautiful work and beautiful writing! Thanks for posting.
