Neon Night.

Realmente no soy una persona de fiestas, pero hay algo en los clubs que los hace interesantes para mí. Quizás son las luces, las bebidas, o sólo que es un lugar a donde la gente va a pasar un buen rato (la mayor parte del tiempo).

Así que eso me inspiró a ilustrar algo simple: una chica en una fiesta. Quería que luciera como una persona que sí disfruta las fiestas, pero no como si viviera ahí (no como yo; ni siquiera iría).

El dibujo fue lo primero que hice, por supuesto. Y en vista de que no tengo una Tablet, lo hice en papel.

I’m not really a party person, but there’s something in clubs that makes them interesting to me. Maybe the lights, the drinks or just that it’s a place where people go to have a good time (usually).
So that inspired me to ilustrate something simple: a girl in a party. I wanted her to look like a person who does enjoys parties, but is not like she lives in there (not like me at all; I wouldn’t even go).
The sketch was the first thing to do, of course. And since I don’t have a Tablet, I did it on paper.

¿Cuál es el contrario a la luz?: Oscuridad.
Esa era una de las dos cosas en las que quería hacer énfasis, así que vectoricé el dibujo en Photoshop y agregué zonas oscuras muy específicas. No había necesidad de mucho detalle.

What’s the opposite of light?: Darkness.
That’s one of the two things I wanted to enphasize the most, so I vectorized the sketch in photoshop and added very specific dark spots. There was no need of much detail.

Elegí los colores base.
El rosa es bonito, es uno de mis colores favoritos. Tan vívido y suave al mismo tiempo, así que decidí hacerlo el color más importante.

I chose the base colors.
Pink is pretty, and it’s one of my favorites colors. It’s so vivid and soft at the same time, so I decided to make it the most important one.

Ahora tenemos un “club” detrás de ella y más sombras. El fondo no debería estar tan detallado porque de todas maneras lo iba a desenfocar.

Now there’s the “club” behind her and more shadows. The background shouldn’t be very detailed because I was goint to blur it anyway.

Ahora las luces en ella y algunos ajustes a la saturación.

Pensé que le vendrían bien otros colores, así que los agregué en una capa de “Aclarar”.

I thought it could use more colors, so I added them with a “Lighten” layer.

Y finalmente, además de agregar detalles: desenfoqué el fondo y los bordes.

And finally, in addition to adding details: blur the background and the borders.
