Maybe it's just me but I can feel the subtle claustrophobia, locked away and time is frozen, trapped in winter as nature cyclic like nothing is changed... and for nature time still moves.

In isolation and stillness, exiled from nature, we only have those immediately close and we are forced to anchor one another for a reference outside ourselves to have a grasp of our being in time. Placing the two people beneath the growth and among the cold rocks is pretty cool and communicates that absence of spring.

At least that's my read on the piece.
