Digital Portrait Painting: "Clara 2018"

in OnChainArt3 years ago (edited)

Hello, Hivers!

For todays piece, I wanted to create something very sketchy and raw. Even if my ultimate portrait journey is aiming to achieve realism and hyper-realism, I still enjoy and love the artistic feel of basic sketches and strokes, and the imperfect processes of creating my paintings. Well, I consider all my art works as masterpieces!

Anyway, this digital painting is Clara. I met her years ago in an outreach program that was called "Project SMILE". I would characterize her as a bright, cheerful, and amazing woman. I am a fan of her travel blogs and photography. I can still remember her cute camera and how she treasures it.

Three years passed.

Hello! Kumusta na man ka?
I'm okay but I have changed!

I was so intrigued of these changes. So, the marites-spirit in me compelled me to ask her about that. Prior to asking her, I have seen how direct and precise she is with here instructions, how serious she is with her "perspectives", and how keen she is to details. Well, that's a different her, but I also think that is a better version of her.

Enough with the babbling! This is still a post about art. So, let's go with the process!

Process

  • I am using an iPad and the Procreate App for this digital portrait painting. I selected 3000x4000 pixels canvas and started creating shapes of the face and body using different colors.

  • Then i started defining the features of the face. By the way, I used Tamara Brush as my main brush for this piece. It can be found under the painting brush.

  • I just continued this with more strokes focusing on the face of the subject.

  • Here I started to work on the neck of the subject. So, I just kept on adding more brush strokes and sketches.

  • Then I started building the background after I finished the details of the face.

  • Sorry self, back to the face!

  • Going back to the background, I wanted it be like a rainbow. I also started adding highlights on her shirts.

  • And more highlights and shadows on her shirt.

  • Then I added this smudging effect which in this case represents that this is already in the past - a memory.

  • And finally, "Clara 2018"!

So, that was the whole process of my digital painting on procreate. I really hope you enjoyed it and loved the outcome. Thank you so much for dropping by my post. See you on my next post!

Hallo gail! Naminaw kos imong podcast. Nalingaw kos inyong interview ni Juli. Hahahha , ana siya "Ganahan jud ko magbigabiga sa pole" ahhahhah

Damn @christianyocte! Looking back 2018, I have gone a long way indeed and your portrait reminded me a lot of things back then but most expecially the time we spent with the rest of the writers guild.

And I appreciate that you think the "new me" is a better version of myself. But your skills have grown as well! I would not have know you were already into digital painting so way to go! Keep it up and looking forward for your journey here in Hive.

Thank you so much 😊. Let's see where this passion will lead me.

Hey! Great work:)

Amazing. You made this while looking at her picture or you just drew it out of the top of your head?
