Being an artist and offering commission graphite drawings can be both a rewarding and challenging experience.
I want to share my honest thoughts and insights about this aspect of my artistic journey. From the initial spark of inspiration to the final stroke of the pencil, here are my reflections on the world of being a commission artist.

One of the most fulfilling aspects of creating commissioned graphite drawings is the opportunity to collaborate with customers. It truly is. Its a chance to bring their visions to life and translate their ideas onto paper. The excitement of working with clients, understanding their wishes, and capturing their unique features and even stories in a drawing is truly rewarding!
But sometimes... meeting the expectations of clients can also be pretty hard.
Managing time and meeting deadlines is what I always have troubles with when working on commissioned artwork... It requires a massive organizational skill, that I got to admit, don't really have. Still. But I'm working on it. 😉

Commissioned drawings offer a wonderful opportunity to build a diverse portfolio and I showcase my skills to a wider audience.
As an artist, receiving feedback and constructive criticism is also an essential part of my growth.
While most clients appreciate my efforts, believe or not - there were occasions when there were differing opinions. Less these years, but when I started out, it was really hard to understand and respond to them the way I do now.
Learning to handle feedback gracefully, addressing concerns, and finding solutions that satisfy both me and the client is an such an important skill to develop. To master even.

Being an artist who creates commissioned drawings is a unique journey filled with both joys and challenges.
The opportunity to collaborate with clients, bring their visions to life, and build a reputation for my work is immensely gratifying. However, it also requires careful communication, time management, and an open mind to meet the expectations of clients while staying true to your artistic style. Through it all, the ability to create beautiful drawings that evoke emotions and leave a lasting impact on others is what makes this endeavor truly worthwhile.
