Hoy les quiero compartir otro de mis pasatiempos favoritos, pintar con pasta de Tabaco, o como se conoce en Venezuela, como CHIMÓ.

"El chimó o chimú llanero es tabaco curado; proviene de hojas de tabaco sometidas a un procedimiento mediante el cual se crea una jalea de consistencia similar a la pasta dental, pero de color negro o café oscuro. Es de uso tradicional en Venezuela, especialmente de los estados Táchira, Mérida, Trujillo, Barinas, Cojedes, Portuguesa, Apure, Lara y Yaracuy, así como en los llanos orientales de Colombia".

Por supuesto en este post no voy a hablar de sus efectos, pero sí de que es un material bastante noble para pintar estilo acuarela, porque la gama de tonos marrones, con tan sólo usar mucha o poca cantidad de agua, es estupenda para dar luces y sombras. Aparte, lo uso sobre cualquier material, pero eso sí, el papel debe tener un buen gramaje, o cartón también sirve. Lo importante también es acostumbrarse al olor característico de esta pasta, y no dejarlo cerca del calor porque se derrite.

Muchos artistas lo utilizan sobre lienzo, pero hay que sellarlo con algún tipo de barniz, porque tiende a diluirse al caerle líquido. Espero se animen a pintar con este material!!!

Of course in this post I am not going to talk about its effects, but I am going to say that it is a quite noble material to paint watercolor style, because the range of brown tones, with just using a lot or little amount of water, is great to give lights and shadows. Besides, I use it on any material, but of course, the paper must have a good weight, or cardboard also works. The important thing is also to get used to the characteristic smell of this paste, and not to leave it near the heat because it melts.

Many artists use it on canvas, but it must be sealed with some kind of varnish, because it tends to dilute when liquid is poured on it. I hope you are encouraged to paint with this material!!!!
