Riverside Stroll in Rainy City. Monsoon Season in Hue, Vietnam

That's the weather:

Not complaining, have chosen this voluntarily.

First, Hue is the best choice in Vietnam, no matter that it's grey in October/November here.

Secondly, it's fresh here, +22-26, and that's a great chance to get rest after so many hot months in Thailand.

Thirdly, it pours in all Southeast Asia, no escape. 😁

On October 29, 2024, I was having another walk along the An Cuu River. Started at 4:30 pm planning to take images before the dark and shortly after it.

Paid no attention to weather - you can't control this factor in Hue in the most rainy month of the year, October. And, yeah, it began to rain in a couple of minutes so I put on my purple disposable rain poncho.

Rain isn't a problem for kingfishers, as it turned out soon. Maybe, even an advantage for them: almost no fishermen and boatmen at the river.

On the opposite side of the embankment:

A street altar on the wall in an alley branching off from the embankment. I always check it during my river walks since the decoration changes over time: crockery, fruits, and flowers appear and disappear.

Visiting a bird fren, Crunchy. But Crunchy said: "This is my land, go". Pain to hear this. Because we knew each other but Crunchy behaved like we didn't.

It was drizzling when I began to walk but soon it started raining heavier. I worried for my camera so I found an arch (old, covered with a sort of ivy) and started photographing people passing by on motorbikes.

Less happy faces in the streets. It reminds me of how people change their attitude to snow in the North. Almost everyone is glad to see white fluffy fairies coming down from the sky when it snows for the first time in winter. Things change after a row of snowy weeks. People get tired and depressed.

But relief will come soon - the second half of November should be easier. I know it from my own experience - it's not the first time I've spent my days in the central Vietnam during the rainy season. Last year, I was in Da Nang in October and November (one of the posts on Hive from that time).

Keep walking and finding sun in colorful details:

Apples, jujubes, tangerines, guavas, syzygiums. Goods of the street vendor.

Another thing on the way:

Recently, we had a visit of a tropical storm called Trami. Happily, it chose to hit the land 150 km south of Hue. Nevertheless, some small trees, boughs, and potted plants have been damaged.

And who's that:

Kingfisher! What deity should I bring fruits to make these birds let me get closer?

Do you see people have sneakers on them? Not that practical when it often rains and you travel on the motorbike. But some people already feel their feet cold when they are wearing flip-flops. Every degree below +24 adds new people feeling cold. Nobody wants to get that endless coughing.
