Wednesday walk in Tsarichina Reserve

Today's Wednesday walk on is in a picturesque reserve located in Stara planina - Tsarichina reserve.

My friends and I made a wonderful hike along the Tsarichina eco-trail, starting from the Vezhen hut at 2198m. altitude.

The path took us inside the forest.

Besides beautiful tree mushrooms with interesting shapes like this heart, we saw wonderful trees with interesting hollows.

The reserve is the third largest in the Central Balkan National Park, Bulgaria and was declared a reserve in 1949.

It takes its name from the charming flower that blooms in a fiery red color and the local people call it "tsarichina".

Although the majority of the forests here are beech and beech-fir, the spruce-moor forests forming the upper forest border are especially valuable. Here is the only isolated site of white mura in the Middle Stara Planina.

The path also led us around the Zavodna River, which is a tributary of the Beli Vit River. We enjoyed enchanting sights and delightful sounds.

We admired various flowers around.

We reached fountains from which we drank pure mountain water.

Descending further down towards the village of Ribaritsa, tents and many camping people could be seen around the river.

Gradually we entered a villa area with neat houses and yards.

Just before entering the main street of the village, donkeys caught our attention.

Mother donkey with baby donkey. They were happy to see us and started to make interesting movements and visibly expressed satisfaction from the attention we paid them. It was such a joyable moment.
