Hello Hello Hivians
It's Wednesday and here in Scotland the Autumn is well and truly here! I am writing this at 7am and in the summer it would have been light for hours by now, today though it is only just starting to get lighter.
So we are going back to the weekend for this walk.

Today though we are practising what #wednesdaywalk is all about!
Look at what is around you!
Typical Scottish Autumnal weather!
We went out on Friday morning for a walk and a bite to eat at the local street food van.
It's always a treat especially in cold weather.

Bacon and Egg roll
I do love bacon and pair it up with some fresh air and you are onto a winner!

It's a great place to sit and watch the world go round.

A giant playground for pups.
No matter what time of the year there are always a multitude of dogs and owners or walkers who more often that not glued to their phones...

Seafield Beach
You can tell by the flag that is was quite windy and gusty lol! I did say it was typical Scottish Autumnal weather.
One big difference between the East and West Coast of Scotland is the weather. Here on the east it is drier and often windier than on the west.

Time to hit that beach!

Walking on the beach always means keeping an eye out for seaglass or in this case sherds of pottery. Yes I did say sherds and not shards, as strictly speaking when we talk about pottery we shay sherds and not shards, fluffed if I know why!

Kelp everywhere!
This time of year can be bring high tides and rougher seas, which in turn often bring more kelp or seaweed to the shore.

Seaweed means food for the birds!

Cleaning crew

There were loads of people who arrived as we were at the rocky end of the beach.

I had never seen most of them, and they certainly didn't look like your normal beachcombers, dog walkers or even beach strollers.
I was intrigued.

But it was time to go as there were other things that needed doing!

One last look and it was time to head up the new steps.

Coastal erosion
It is a constant battle with sand dunes and beaches here. They rebuilt these steps as this is the main egress for this beach at the picnic point.

Seafield Environmental Group
Up on the picnic area where we had our bacon rolls, there was this banner.
Once I got home I did some googling, and found about the group, which is predominantly about getting a watersports hub here on the beach. However, twice a year they get volunteers to help clean up the beach.
This was a clean up day!

You've helped me learn something new! I couldn't resist searching for
pottery sherd or shardSo thanks for helping my small brain grow. Though what I find most interesting is my reaction to your photo. Because normally seeing something broken gives me a sense of loss. But when I saw the rounded edges of the sea-worn sherds, I felt a sense of beauty in the design. Also a sense of the gentle power of the waves.

Hehe I remember the first time my wife showed me her pottery sherds I said you mean shards, she proceeded to enlighten me to the correct term for broken pottery.
She collects them and makes artwork or puts them in glass jars. The sea is immense and full of power and I love the rounded edges to the sea glass as well which as you say shows the gentle power of the waves.
Beautiful beach and landscapes, it looks like a great place to stroll and find pieces of pottery shards spit out the sea. Those are really nice pieces you guys found! I love finding that kind of stuff! Plus you get to watch the crazy birds and probably the crazy people as well...
That egg and bacon roll looks awesome, I could go for one of those right about now. I hope the weather isn't getting to chilly there yet!
It is fun finding the sherds of pottery especially with patterns on. The bacon roll was perfect with an egg and some brown sauce, kept us going all morning!
Weather is hit and miss and we do have a storm warning for winds this weekend, so we shall see what happens.
Here is to a great weekend for all of us!
I do wish we still lived by the ocean. There is nothing like a walk on the beach, feeling the fresh air from the ocean blowing and breathing it in. Looking for trinkets and things the waves have washed up was always fun as well. Looks like you had a wonderful time.
Yeah I love it, that beach is only a ten minute walk from the house, but like alot of things it is making the time to go there. But every single time it is a mood enhancer, even in the height of winter when blowing a storm and you can hardly stand up lol!
That bit about calling pottery bits sherds made me smile and the the word looks like my spellcheck might start a fight :)
As someone who lives far from a be;ach, I love how you mixed a simple walk with noticing small things, it felt calm and real.
I dont know Scotland well, but your windy East coast note came through and now I can almost hear the gulls.
You know I have worked or lived in 69 countries, and in all but a handful I have been within a mile or so from a beach. I love that coastal fresh salty air and of course the noise of the gulls lol!
Sixty nine countries near the sea is wild, no wonder that salty air feels like home..
The gulls crack me up, that squabble and squeal is like the soundtrack to a walk, then the quiet after feels extra sweet :)
Your line made me picture those coasts stitched together, from calm bays to stormy edges, and it makes the Seafield clean up feel part of one big shoreline story.
Nothing beats that first breath of sa;lty breeze and a warm roll, prboably the best combo on a windy morning.
Oh yes a warm roll and salty breeze wakes you up hehe!
A walk by the sea always feels refreshing, and I like how you turned it into a moment of care for the environment too.
I love the sea and fresh air, and usually try to clean up plastic whenever I go out for a walk. The environment is important and we have done our best as a race to destroy it so time to help it now.
Cheers Mick
the ocean is really beautiful as always! i like the 3 dogs and the way the owner took a picture or video of his dog hehe. also the seeweds are still useful for birds, just nice. well, you really have a nice wednesday walk. 🥰
Oh yes it is always fun going down the to the beach, the other side has the seals which I need to see again as it has been a while. Thank you it was a fun walk 😎
When you feel unhappy coz of autumn you can also visit the beach😁😬
hehe maganda remembers, yeah in the rough weather going to the beach is fun!
😌😌
Oh, thank goodness you didn't leave me curious and looked up who those new people on the beach were! Around here, the weather hasn't changed yet: the sun and heat are strong. Why are there so many pieces of pottery in your sea? Who broke an entire set of dishes in the Atlantic Ocean? hahaha. An excellent outing, as always. Hugs
Hehe yes those people, I actually think some must have been foreign college students. The pottery, well that area use to make pots and pottery years ago and pieces have worked there way to the beach area. A big fresh hug Nancy
It looks a bit chilly just from the photos. That bacon looks pretty good. I kind of reminds me of the southern country ham we have here. We had a stiff breeze yesterday and my wife was bundled up with the house open! Now this weekend we are suppose to touch 90 again!
The weather is typical early autumn, cold in the morning and then warms up in the afternoon. Although this weekend winds and a storm are forecast. Enjoy that warm weather!
We left the house open last night. Woke up and it was 62 in there this morning. Just a bit chilly! I love it though. Those 85 to 90 degree days are going to suck. I will probably have to turn the air back on.
lol that some temperature swing!
TThe beach looks so clean I like it looks so clean I like it.. I hope here my place all beaches are like that too. I’m happy with the dogs, they are cute and also their clothes.
hehe the dogs were cute with their clothes! I do like a clean beach and I pick up trash whenever I see any.
I love how you combine a walk with a clean-up! Those autumn beach vibes really come through in your photos. Looks like a perfect way to spend a morning."
Fresh air and getting some exercise and cleaning up your surroundings are always a winner for me :)
