Hello everyone! As every Wednesday, I want to share with you, #wednesdaywalk friends, another one of my tours, thanks to the initiative of @tattoodjay who has created this beautiful space.
Today I want to share with you a very special experience that I lived in the little houses of Villa Juana. I had committed myself to do a social work taking pictures to help people with scarce resources who live there. It was a journey full of discoveries and significant moments that I want to tell you about.
The trip to Villa Juana, located in the municipality of Garcia, began early in the morning. As I traveled along the road, I was surprised to discover a women's detention center that I was completely unaware of. Despite having passed through this route on several occasions, I had never noticed its existence. This center is located near an elevated bridge, designed to avoid accidents on the road. However, only the elderly or pregnant women who cannot cross the pedestrian bridge can cross the road accompanied by an agent.
¡Hola a todos! Como cada miércoles, quiero compartir con ustedes, amigos de #wednesdaywalk, otro de mis recorridos, gracias a la iniciativa de @tattoodjay que ha creado este hermoso espacio.
Hoy quiero compartirles una experiencia muy especial que viví en las casitas de Villa Juana. Me había comprometido a realizar una labor social tomando fotos para ayudar a las personas con escasos recursos que viven allí. Fue una jornada llena de descubrimientos y momentos significativos que quiero relatarles.
El viaje hacia Villa Juana, ubicado en el municipio García comenzó temprano en la mañana. Mientras recorría el camino, me sorprendí al descubrir un centro de reclusión de mujeres que desconocía por completo. A pesar de haber pasado por esa ruta en varias ocasiones, nunca había notado su existencia. Este centro está ubicado cerca de un puente elevado, diseñado para evitar accidentes en la vía. Sin embargo, solo pueden cruzar la carretera acompañados por un agente los adultos mayores o las mujeres embarazadas que no pueden subir el puente peatonal.
Continuing my journey, I was struck by a sports field that looked very well maintained. It is refreshing to see spaces like this, where the community can gather and enjoy outdoor activities. The views of the mountains along the way were simply breathtaking, a constant reminder of the natural beauty that surrounds us and abounds on the island.
Continuando mi trayecto, me llamó la atención una cancha deportiva que se veía muy bien mantenida. Es reconfortante ver espacios así, donde la comunidad puede reunirse y disfrutar de actividades al aire libre. Las vistas de las montañas durante el camino eran simplemente impresionantes, un recordatorio constante de la belleza natural que nos rodea y abunda en la Isla.
Finally, I arrived in Villa Juana. The little houses, although humble, were full of life and hope. My job was to take pictures, print them and give them to the children because many of them needed to renew their school enrollment and had no way to do so. We brought candy and some gifts.
Finalmente, llegué a Villa Juana. Las casitas, aunque humildes, estaban llenas de vida y esperanza. Mi labor consistía en tomar fotos de carnet, imprimirlas y entregárselas porque a muchos les faltaba para renovar la matrícula en la escuela y no tenían cómo. Llevamos caramelos y algunos obsequios.
The time passed so fast that I didn't even realize it. When we finished our work, we went to the gas pump to fill up the tank, since Villa Juana is quite far from our house. When I was told about this work, I didn't know how far it was. It was a long trip, but full of satisfaction for the work done.
El tiempo pasó tan rápido que ni me di cuenta, al culminar nuestra labor, nos dirigimos a la bomba de gasolina para llenar el tanque, ya que Villa Juana queda bastante lejos de nuestra casa. Cuando me hablaron de esta labor, no sabía lo lejos que era. Fue un viaje largo, pero lleno de satisfacción por el trabajo realizado.
On our way back, we decided to stop by the Rio market, the closest one to our house. My husband took the opportunity to buy some ingredients and end the day in a sweet way: making a cake. The cake turned out special, a perfect end to the day.
De regreso, decidimos pasar por el mercado Río, el más cercano a nuestra casa. Mi esposo aprovechó para comprar algunos ingredientes y terminar el día de una manera dulce: haciendo una torta. La torta le quedó especial, un cierre perfecto para el día.
This Wednesday walk not only allowed me to help those in need, but also to discover aspects of my surroundings that I was unaware of. It was an enriching experience that reminded me of the importance of being attentive to our surroundings and to contribute, to the extent of our possibilities, to the welfare of people with scarce resources.
I would have liked to show you many more photos, but time went by so fast and I was very busy.

Este paseo de miércoles no solo me permitió ayudar a quienes lo necesitan, sino también descubrir aspectos de mi entorno que desconocía. Fue una experiencia enriquecedora que me recordó la importancia de estar atentos a nuestro alrededor y de contribuir, en la medida de nuestras posibilidades, al bienestar de personas con escasos recursos.
Hubiese querido mostrarles muchas más fotos, pero el tiempo transcurrió tan rápido y estuve muy ocupada.
