Spring is starting up around here for this #wednesdaywalk by @tattoodjay
The Canadian geese are honking all over the place here and starting their nests.
This goose has already started a nest and probably has a few eggs underneath her. Hopefully the goslings will be running around in a few weeks.
The day started out kind of dark and rainy with lots of wind but later on the sun came out. In the meantime I took a few photos of the cloud layers.
All the rain is causing the flowers to start budding. I believe these are daffodils.
This batch got an early start and is already blooming. I'll have to check in on the larger batch later to see a huge burst of yellow.
This is Sanguinaria canadensis aka bloodroot starting to bloom.
Bloodroot is a toxic plant but it has some commercial uses where a compound in it is used in dental hygiene products. It is also used as a natural dye, probably producing a red color from the root.
I'm not sure what these ones are... I thought they looked like rue anemone but the leaves are wrong.
This looks like Siberian squill (Scilla siberica). This plant is native to Russia and Turkey but I suspect it got here as an ornamental plant in people's gardens. It seems to like it here as I see quite a bit of it growing out in the wild.
Some of the trees are also blooming. Soon this place will be full of pollen and bees everywhere. Maybe next week I can get some shots of bees covering this tree once it gets a bit less windy and rainy here.
Moss is looking nice and green here as well. Unfortunately I haven't found any morel mushrooms growing yet... Hopefully this year will be bountiful and there will be some nice specimens of mushrooms growing out of this bright green moss.
That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)
Spring flowers and geese such a beautiful walk
Spring is coming here but due to a small mishap I have had to take it easy this week and haven’t experienced it yet
But your wonderful post gave me the feeling of spring
Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :), I truly enjoy exploring the world virtually each Wednesday seeing walks from all around the globe and feeling I am there and experiencing it all myself, such as I did in your post just now :)
Doh hope you get better soon. This year is nice and rainy and I'm hoping by next week the mushrooms will be out for foraging.
Thanks
And good luck with the mushroom hunting
Beautiful photographs @sketch.and.jam.
The Canadian geese are cute. I painted them once years ago.
The spring is just sooo refreshing and all the flowers and blooms we see… love this season.
Such a great captures of all the bright colors. No idea what those flowers are either. Look pretty though.
This year I'm trying to figure out plant identification. I'm good at mushrooms and birds but when it comes to flowers and plants I need to up my knowledge.
That’s cool @sketch.and.jam have fun learning 🤓😁
Great spring pics. I haven't seen any nests here yet but I did see some birds checking out one of my new birdhouses 🤞 Nice moody blues in the sky shot. All of the blossoms look familar to me here in Vermont but you are a few weeks ahead. Reading your posts has my antenna up for mushrooms. Saw some turkeytail the other day and some sort of shelf mushroom that I didn't get close enough to identify. I enjoy watching your spring as a preview of things to come in Vermont. Nice post 🙂
If I miss morel season down here maybe you can find some over there... Last year only false morels hatched which have a hydrazine toxin in them but people in Europe eat them for some reason lol.
I think I will pass on the false morels, maybe we can start a business shipping them to Europe 🤔 I have to wait for my resident mushroom expert to return. He works with a guy that sells forager pizzas on weekends at his orchard on the weekends. The forager pizzas have a mix of mushrooms that changes through the season.
Wow that sounds like an awesome orchard. I find the summer chanterelles work best on pizza. Morels might be a bit too mild tasting for pizza. From what I've read on the false morels they are ok in small amounts but eventually if you eat enough of them the hydrazine will build up in your system and might cause cancer womp.

I'm so happy to see the amazingly beautiful scenery
Thanks for looking, hopefully soon the mushrooms will be growing again so I can post in #fungifriday
Glad to hear that can I ask about the post support we share.
Looks almost like my hood! We already ground-bloomed, though. Then it got hot, like 70. Then it snowed...
Haha I remember somewhere around 2015 or 16 when the snow hit Oregon and everyone went crazy. Some guy got caught up in a mountain and survived in his car off taco bell hot sauce for a few days lol.
HAAAAAA what a horrible thing to have to survive on. We get snow almost every year, but people still like to go crazy, just for fun. This last snow was wet and totally driveable, but everyone said fukkit let's take the day off anyway just cuz we want a day off. I liked that.
Who know how long those hot sauce packets were there on the floor of his car too. I guess this happened in 2019 https://www.delish.com/food-news/a26627230/man-survived-five-days-eating-taco-bell-hot-sauce/
Makes me think I should always carry a little food my in car, considering all the adventures I go on. Won't be Taco Bell hot sauce, though. Gross.
Here I keep a sleeping bag, bottled water and some canned food in the car just in case there is another polar vortex that strands everyone on the highways like it did on lakeshore drive one year.
I keep my sleeping bag and setup in the car, plus a gallon of water. That's mostly because my apartment is too small, but I'll pretend I'm as practical as you.
Our polar vortexes are much milder, though, than yours over on that side.
