Hello Hive Friends. Happy New Year!
I am excited to share with you this walk on the Simpson Reed Trail in the Redwood Forest in California for my first #wednesdaywalk of 2023.
For the Christmas holidays I went to Oregon to see my family and we spent a couple of days on the Oregon Coast. On the way to the coast we stopped at the Redwood Forest. I am so glad we did. It is INCREDIBLE!
I live in Arizona and all the green was really spectacular!
We went on the Simpson Reed Trail which is .93 miles (1.49 km) which was perfect to wander around.
Here are a few pictures to give you a feeling of how large these trees are! According to one of the plaques on the trail,
Some coast redwoods can be 360 feet tall (109.7 meters).
Perspective
Scotty taking a picture in front of a fallen tree. As we walked by we commented on how it was like a tall wall.
Ferns
There were so many ferns all over the forest floor.
It was magnificent!
Mushrooms
It was fun seeing these mostly cute fungi on our walk. The one with black on it was as hard as a rock.
Moss
These trees are covered in moss and are super beautiful.
Group shot
Banana Slug
Oh and I can't forget this fascinating creature- banana slug!
A few more pictures. It was such a great 1.5 hours walking through this magical forest.

Wow!!!
I don't know how many exclamation marks to put on this one!!!
Truly awesome!!!
It is so funny to look at people among those huge trees, you look like actual miniatures :)
Ha ha thanks! I know, the trees felt big while I was in the forest and looking at the pictures was a bit surreal to see how big they are.
Stunning. It reminds me of Muir woods near San Fransisco that I went to a few times in another life in an alternate universe about 23 years agoooo...
What a beautiful walk!
Thank you so much for taking me there!
You are welcome @chocolatescorpi so glad you enjoyed it!
I certainly did. I can smell the fresh (ly) fresh and damp forest air again now looking through those great pics again!
I do love redwoods. I need to take my husband to Redwood National Forest!
Yes, you can add that to your places to travel in 2023 or maybe 2024.
It's in the "possibilities" list for 2024 as part of a potential trip to Northern California to see places like Yosemite and Big Sur, and of course the Redwoods.
What a magnificent place you have! I really love all the details from nature. How I really wish I could walk in this.kind of amazing. ♥️😊
Hi @teacherlynlyn thank you so much for your comment, the Redwood National Park was so amazing. I am so glad it is a park and protected so that many people (hopefully, including you) can visit. It was my second time and I want to go back.

Hi @balikis95 Thanks so much. So glad you enjoyed it!
Glad you shared it too.
I love wet forests and ferns and such magical woodland, so different from my own New England forests. Just really magical. @sjarvie5
Hi @donnadavisart I agree these wet forest are so different from the ones I grew up with, it was so great!
Wow - that looks fantastic. I've always wanted to visit the red woods. You see the odd red wood tree over here in Scotland, but not quite as big as those - seeing a whole forest of them would be great !

Hi @hoosie great I helped add another place to your list when you come to America!
Wao what a great and fantastic places you have shared with us. I am big fan of your photography. Norway is very wonderful city. Natural sights are more pleasing to the human heart. This forest is very cute and green. It's great to see you enjoying your life with your friends and family. Overall your photography is awesome but first picture of your photography is my favorite. Thanks for sharing your happiness with us.
Thanks so much @djbravo you always have very nice comments, I appreciate them.
Most welcome dear.
I have always admired these trees!
As for these slugs, not really. We have something similar in Estonia recent years. Not the same ones but look pretty much the same and they are foreign species from Spain. These destroy so many plants in the garden. Fortunately, I havent had them in my garden. But I hear many are struggling.
Hi @greddyforce Wow that is too bad that those slugs have come into your country and hurt so many plants. I hope they continue to stay away from your garden.
I remember visiting a redwood forest somewhere there size really blew me away and your shot by the roots really emphasizes that what an amazing walk and post
Thanks for joining the Wednesday, its always fun for me to visit the walks from all around the world, getting a feel for communities where people live and what they see on their daily walks
Hi Jay, I agree it is so fun to see walks from all over the world. So glad I could share this unique area of our very cool world!
Beautiful photos, I love nature, especially beaches and forests so I loved your post
Thank you so much @bethyjade
Nature Life in his finest! Beautiful mother nature!!💚🙏
Thank is for sure!
The root of the tree looks so immense.
What camera are you using? I really love the photos👌
Thank you @mamas.boi. I am using a Nikon D70 for a few and a Google Pixel 7Pro for most of the pictures. The light was so low in the forest that the camera phone worked much better!
I’ve always wanted a Google pixel 🥹I know they’re really good coz I watched many phone reviews of it on youtube.
I have enjoyed it.
