A friend's IG post caught my attention: a photo of a lake view with a caption saying that the lake is not far from her house. Still in Jakarta, precisely in Ragunan, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta. It is somewhere in a zoo area, named Taman Margasatwa Ragunan (Ragunan Wildlife Park).
Ragunan Wildlife Park is a mini tropical forest, in which there is a biodiversity that has high conservation value. This park covers an area of 147 hectares and is inhabited by more than 2,009 animals and is overgrown with more than 20,000 trees. (ragunanzoo.jakarta.go.id)
The few times I've been to the zoo many years ago, I never knew there was a lake there. As it turned out, the lake was located at the back end of the zoo, a bit far from the animal stalls.
I was curious about visiting that lake. So I told my friend that I wanted to go there, and she was willing to accompany me. On the appointed day, I went to Ragunan by bus and met her there.
So we walked towards the lake, past several animal stalls. That morning, the place was still quiet; there weren't many visitors. I enjoyed the walk through the tree-lined area. With so many trees around, it freshens up my eyes and my brain.
After walking quite a distance, we arrived at the lake. The lake turned out to be quite wide surrounded by lush trees.
The place feels very cool and peaceful, far from the noise of the city, even though it is in the city. I'm glad I don't have to go far out of town to refresh in a place like this. Hopefully this place can continue to be well maintained.
Thanks for dropping by. Have a nice day!
