For today's walk, I finally stopped by a curious set of buildings I've been driving past for the past six months. I've driven by a hill that highlighted some old buildings on the hill line; from afar on the highway below, I assumed the buildings were an old convent or diocese. Instead, it turned out to be an area that housed a historic site.

The building was erected in 1859 and features limestone architecture. There are quite a few buildings in this area created by limestone; my maternal grandfather's birthplace, for example, still exists to this day and is constructed of limestone. It too is very old but survives to this day. The school, above, survives too.

I only had my Droid with me again, I wasn't able to get a whole lot of photos of the building's design. I did take a few photos however, as the group of older ladies stared at me from a nearby office's parking lot. Awkward!

This will definitely be a place I plan to come back to this summer. I think they offer tours of the building; this will be a fun historic tour to take when I'm not pressed for time. Work was a-callin' again today, so no fun for a Wednesday.

I have to admit, the #wednesdaywalk post always gets me thinking about visiting somewhere new. As I said, I must have driven these buildings, obscured by pine trees from afar, at least 50 times...today I finally decided to investigate. And sure enough, there was a historic treasure nestled away in the so called Garden of Eden of Wisconsin. Good stuff!

Thanks for stopping by to take a read and look at today's adventure. Hoping everyone else had a wonderful Wednesday too. Until next Wednesday!

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :), I truly enjoy exploring the world virtually each Wednesday seeing walks from all around the globe and feeling I am there and experiencing it all myself, such as I did in your post just now :)

Oooops. It happens to me too. When I try capturing pictures I feel like people are stating at me and would come to ask my intention.

The building and surrounding areas are quite beautiful and well managed. It speaks for the best administration there.

Thanks! It's pretty cool - can't wait for a tour in the future!

I try to keep it discreet with the Droid phone, but even that draws attention!

An interesting place. You had a nice walk.

I love being able to explore new things, too, even if it's just a building I'm curious about. There are a couple on my list that I need to get to soon.

Kinda funny about the old ladies watching you. I wonder what their day must be like to find such fascination with a person taking pictures.

Ha, it's a small town (very small). It's one of those towns that if you come to work in a new car, it's a the topic of choice amongst the townsfolk. Very very peculiar for a Garden of Eden location.

Thanks for stopping by! Yes, i love finding old historic spots to share for my wednesday walks. There are plenty of areas in this part of the globe, so I'm very fortunate.
