Walking on top... | ENG-ESP |

Hello Wednesday walkers!

Today, once again, motivated by the excellent initiative of @tattoodjay in this #WednesdayWalk challenge, I want to show you part of my city through a little walk that I made just for you.

I live in the center of #cuba, in a city called Santa Clara, a city that has its charms and a cultural diversity that attracts new visitors to those who come to it. One of the most significant sites is the place I bring you closer to with these images that I share with you. It is La Loma del Capiro.

More than a hill or elevation, as anyone might think when reading or hearing its name, it is a group that includes several elements related to aspects such as religion, geography and social importance, in addition to the beautiful views it gives us.

It is not really a simple elevation, but rather a set of three hills or knolls. Specifically, La Loma del Capiro has an altitude of 176.6 m (579 feet), and we find next to it two twin hills or knolls named Dos Hermanas, with 185.9 and 188.4 meters of height.

Historically, it has an interesting value for Cubans, and it is from there that the liberation of the city was planned during the so-called Triumph of the Cuban Revolution in 1959. In addition, we can find another particular detail. And it is that near here is the first religious statue of #Cuba outside of the official temples. It is a Monument to Pope John Paul II in honor of his visit to our city in 1998.

Geologically, it is a hill formed by limestone rocks that is home to unique fauna and vegetation.
I hope that these images have made you want to visit it one day and, who knows, we may meet on the way.
At another time I will share with you night images from this same site.

A hug!

The photographs and the post are my property.
