Flood is not A friend

My #wednesdaywalk by @tattoodjay is within the Lekki environ. Lagos state is know as the economic power of West Africa. When they refer Nigeria as the giant of Africa, the major state behind that is Lagos state. Undoubtedly their major issue is flood whenever it rains. Flood is a threat and when i mean a threat I mean a major threat. Any form of rain that exceed five hours (5H), everywhere becomes flooded.

This is Lekki, one of the major city in Lagos. The city where the biggest boys live. Where the big men reside. Their major issue is rain. Their fear is majorly in raining season. One thing that I have observed is that if there is a proper drainage and everyone chooses to be sane by nut dumping refuse in the drainage or on the street. We can achieve a flood free city. I have below some area that have good drainage system that does not have flood at all.

To Prevent flood the following has to be put into consideration:

• Deep drainage
• No dumping of refuse on the street
• Regular clearing of street grass

People need to understand that flood is not a friend, the rain must fall no matter what. It will definitely fall in its season. The only thing man can do is to be prepared for the raining season.
