RE: Wednesday Walk - Watching a Cargo Ship Coming into the Harbor.

Oh wow! This is a trip down memory lane for me!
Many, many years ago (like 20 or so?), when I was still in school and we lived in Durban for a time, my father took me down to the harbour and we were privileged enough to actually get to spend the day on one of those tug boats! It is quite an experience!

We did it twice, which was great because the first time was scary for me. The second time, I calmed down and could actually really enjoy the whole experience a lot more! Those tug boats might look small but they have a LOT of power in them. When the tug boat captain 'hits the gas' you 100% know about it!

Thanks for braving the sprinklers and sharing these!

Wow! What an awesome experience that must have been! And to get that opportunity twice? Wow, not many people can say that! I'm glad you had another chance and that you could calm down and just really enjoy the experience!

Thank you for sharing your experience with us! It definitely added value to the post I really do appreciate it!

It really was quite an awesome experience! I appreciate that my Dad organized it for us! Obviously, things have changed in the harbour since, because I believe it was something the public could actually go do back then. Naturally, you had to sign a stack of indemnity forms, but as long as you weren't an idiot it was a lovely outing.

I can imagine that it must have been a great outing! But yes, I doubt if they would still allow it today. Today you can't even enter the harbor unless you have a good reason...
