Valencia, with the best tourist guide

The day when I walked through the historic centre of Valencia was cloudy. Gray. Maybe not the best time for a walk... hey, wait. Every moment is good for a walk! Especially if your tour guide is your own son. 😃

He was so happy, taking us places and proudly showing us that he knew where to go and what to see. I didn't want to go by bus, as he suggested, although he said that it would be faster to get to the centre from the bus station where we parked the car... I chose to walk. Well, after 15 minutes I asked him if there was still much further... You know, something like Donkey's question from Shrek - are we there yet?

Yes, he confirmed it was close but repeated it a few times more if we had taken public transportation... we laughed a lot about that. Well, fifteen more minutes passed and we were at the train station. I have already shown you that beautiful building. Now it's time for the rest of the tour through the city centre.

Ayuntamiento de Valencia

The grand town hall of Valencia is just a few minutes from the station. The square in front of the building was full of people... I am wondering if all of them wanted to take a stroll exactly at that hour and stand there!? Well, they wanted to get into my photos, what can I do about it?

Palacio de las Comunicaciones de Valencia

It was a little better in front of the Palace of Communications in Valencia. Fewer people there. Also, a building that has been showing its architectural beauty for one hundred years. However, I saw there was a ribbon at the entrance, maybe they were doing maintenance work.

In the town hall square, everyone can find fun to their liking. For me, the ice rink is something I should always avoid. When I was little, I fell on the ice and broke my left arm. You can imagine that I don't want that to happen again - ice rinks are a great enemy of mine! Although a few years ago my niece made me try skating again... What a bad decision it was! I fell again, I hurt myself so much that for a few days, I couldn't even get out of bed.

Maybe a carousel is suitable for me.

Or... the Christmas tree! 😍 It stood behind the carousel, in a few seconds I was there, in front of it. My son says it is much nicer in the evening, when there are lights but we couldn't stay until late. It was pretty anyway, with or without the lights.

The young guide made us move - he had to get back to the bus station as he was travelling to Barcelona. Our time was limited so just a quick look toward the fountain...

...and another angle of the same fountain, with the Christmas tree and the tower of the city hall in the background.

20241227_144847.jpg

No, no time for visiting the Rialto theatre and watching a movie. Maybe next time.

20241227_144915.jpg

As I said to my son that I wanted to see Torres de Quart, he took us through different streets back toward the bus station. He made a good choice as we saw a few interesting things. The first of them was a cheerful house called La Casa de Papa Noel - Santa's House. It would not be an outstanding thing to see around Christmas dates, but seeing it written in Hungarian on the top balcony was a thing! A Mikulás Háza - that is Hungarian! 😀

Still under the impression of what I had just seen, in a few minutes we arrived at the Central Market. It is so beautiful, both on the sides and in the centre of the building.

Mercado Central de Valencia

A few steps from it, we saw a gorgeous church, the Royal Parish of Saints Juanes Valencia.

Real Parroquia de los Santos Juanes Valencia

To see another marvellous building you just have to turn to the other side of the street. This was the building of the Silk Exchange of Valencia.

La Lonja de la Seda de Valencia

I said we had a great guide! 😁 quick but efficient, maybe too quick as he was in a hurry hahaha. In the end, we passed by the place I wanted to see. Torres de Quart. It was not easy to squeeze it into a photo. 😆

Torres de Quart

As you can see, we had to walk quickly so as not to be late, but when we saw the bus station, we relaxed because there was still plenty of time left.

It was an intense walk, but it's okay! Quick and under the grey sky, who said we couldn't enjoy it to the fullest!? 😎

I don't know what to choose! The fountain, no... the tree, no... the tower, no... the church... I don't know, I like everything! I think I fell in love with the fountain!

I won't go to any ice rink just in case... mum is on crutches and I don't want to fall!

Beautiful walk, thank you!

No, don't go to ice you either!

Cómo ha salido la cita con el traumatólogo?

hahaha no please don't, I have too much to do hahaha

I tell him that he has a lot of scoliosis and that it is progressing, for that he gave him exercises, and the foot is a sprain, he told him to do heat massages, I do them twice a day and he told him to use a crutch until it goes down. It could have been worse. I already went to the orthopaedic and he has the crutch, it will be a question of time and he will listen to me hahaha he is rebellious hahaha.

Rebellious mom? 😂

He didn't want the doctor to give him rest hahaha

Claro, ella quería ir al Jardín Botánico 😂

It'll have to wait... I think I'll go later, barring a miracle to deflate the foot...

What a lovely walk 😊 every moment is perfect for a walk…
I can imagine him being proud and happy showing you around. So great.
Hahaha I could hear the voice “are we there yet?” In my head. Hubby and I joke a lot with that too… !LOL
Those buildings are stunning even on a dark day.
I like the capture with the christmas tree just sticking out above the fountain. ⛲️

Thanks for taking us along.
Have a wonderful afternoon 😊

Yes, he is now the big boy and proud of living in that city, wich I really like btw. A few years ago we were the guides, and now it is him 😉

Are we there yet? 😂

Thank you Jackie, may you have a nice evening too 😊

So nice 😊 boys grow up so fast.

Hahaha never !LOL 🤣😂

You are welcome 🤗 thanks a lot. Enjoy yours.
Here we got more snow, it is 63CM deep ☃️

Valencia looks beautiful on Christmas!! A faller-Hungarian Santa? 🤣 You had the best guide, I hope he is studying a lot, Valencia has plenty of fun plans to take distractions. 😁

What a mix in that Santa 😂
I don't know, I didn't check later what about is that house but reading my native language in Spain was cool.

Oh, studying. I hope so, haha, we will see at the end of January with the exams 😬

Valencia is a beautiful city, with spectacular buildings like the City Hall, I loved seeing the Santa Claus house, I didn't know it. And although the visit has been quick, I'm with my tongue out, the guide has certainly shown the most emblematic Valencia.

Thanks for the tour @mipiano.

Our tongue was also out 😂 I think the young man is now used to be in a hurry (although he says that sometimes he is late for the lessons 🤦‍♀️ 😂)

That tends to happen with younger explorers. 😄

Good night, @mipiano.

Good night 👋

A nice, nice walk, so many things to see at the same time it would drive me crazy on a flash walk.

Oh bad experience with the ice rink, I skated about 15 years ago, I fell many times and several skaters had to pick me up, it was a public embarrassment but I laughed a lot about it.

I like the Santa Claus house, which is in Spanish 🤣.

@mipiano 🥰

So you like the first floor :D The third floor is then for me hahaha.

Skating can be fun, I am sure - if you know how to fall and finish the adventure without injuries :D

Dear Valencia 🥲🥺 I hope some day I could walk around ❤️ so beautiful!!

I hope so too, and then - you remember - hay que jugar a pelota valenciana 😉

Valencia is so picturesque. Hope they've recovered from the flood that happened recently.

The city center was OK, but before entering the city we saw a lot mud and hills of destroyed cars 😑

That's sad :(. I was there just a month before the flood. I hope they fully recover soon and it doesn't become a regular thing

I keep such nice memories from Valencia. I had the opportunity of visiting during "Las Fallas". So you can imagine the thrill that it was for me, seeing all those tall colored sculptures being set on fire with the huge participation of all the Valencianos! Thank you for sharing with us, and for making me miss that great week that I had there. Maybe it's time to schedule a new visit to that joyful city! Did you saw any signs of the floods that took place couple of months ago?

Fallas, we were there one year. Incredibly many people, our son couldn't get through the crowd to reach us, so it was a bit stressful for us hahaha. But I love Valencia, in any shape.

Yeah, unfortunately we have seen signs of the recent floods, piled up mud with garbage and destroyed cars, before we entered the city

It is impressive how the signs of the floods are still visible. I can't imagine the size of the catastrophe that happened there.

such a beautiful city thanks for the tour, I love seeing Ice skating rinks outdoors like that and a\watching people skating, but never try, I tried roller skating and realised my sense of balance is ideal for shoes and walking and nothing else lOL

Thanks for joining the Wednesday Walk :)

We are fine with walking then haha 😉
Yeah, roller skating is similar and I can't do that either 😂

👍🙂👍

What a nice walk through Valencia. It is one of the cities in Spain that I haven't been to and I would love to visit it someday.
And I imagine that the best of all was to have the best guide of the place that you could have had, hehe.
When children leave the nest not everything is nostalgia, right? It's so cool in that new stage of life when they feel proud to show us the place where they live.

Then fingers crossed you visit it one day ;)

No nostalgia at the moment as I know it's his new stage now and he should enjoy it as we did when we studied. His road to independence.

Magestuosas edificaciones perfectamente conservadas.

Absolutely stunning photos you captured I really enjoyed the post keep up the great work 👏🏾😎
