The park La Alegría (could be translated as Happiness Park) is a small green area in the city of Málaga, in the Ciudad Jardín residential district. We had our accommodation in this neighbourhood when we visited Málaga in January. One morning, on our last day, I went to the supermarket to buy some food for the rest of the day and passed through happiness. I mean, through this park with that name.

It was still quiet and empty as it was early in the morning, which is relative, as 9 am is considered early in Spain, but maybe not in other countries. That is the time the supermarkets and groceries open here. 🤷♀

At that time, no one was there; no passersby or children playing, just the gardeners and the cleaning staff who came to trim some bushes and collect the fallen leaves. Oh, me as well, of course, as I passed there and took a few photos. Was the park happy with these visitors?

It always fills me with joy when I see palm trees! They stood straight, reaching a considerable height, growing toward the sky, searching for the sun and clean air; they surely know how to find their joy too.

Although happiness is quite a personal thing, in general, we all walk in that search for emotional well-being. That is deeply rooted in our hearts; we think and move toward that experience to feel gratitude, love, recognition, acceptance, joy of belonging to someone, fulfilment in family, work and other areas of our life through creations, passion, and we also want to leave behind us a strong mark of light, the spark of life sharing those positive emotions with others, right?

Sometimes we can achieve it and sometimes not, for various reasons, but it shouldn't discourage us. Why not focus on our own steps and joyous moments, magical ones and not on the end of the path? It can happen abruptly at any moment or go in cycles, a mystery of the future. Also, I am sure that we all know this, so I am not preaching anything new here; it is just a reminder for all of us.

Just a rambling - if plants had that urge to find and share happiness, would it be through flowers? 🌸 Is it sharing the beauty, colours and pleasant scent with others or a "selfish" thing, the natural need to attract the bees and other insects? 😅

There was also a part of the park with a playground for children. As you see, still empty. Probably everyone was still sleeping at home. 😁

Many times it is said that childhood is the happiest part of one's life. Probably, as kids have the imagination, innocent hearts, the freedom to play, build, dismantle and do it again differently if they wish; of course, the play has to be fair always, for everyone. Well, just running or jumping, or climbing to the top of a castle, is also joy. A lesson for adults - never forget to play, it is not the exclusive privilege of the little ones. 😉

I forgot to mention sliding - that is fun too!
I don't mean to criticise... but these creatures would need a bit of care and a fresh coat of paint. I say this now that I am surrounded by work, so I could be subjective on the topic. Or maybe I have been breathing in too much paint these days hahaha

So, that was a little walk through Happiness Park in Málaga... Oh, the word reminds me of a song, I think a very well-known one, maybe I already mentioned it in some moment, but it fits the name of this park. I was browsing the dates and places where Cirque du Soleil will perform their shows, so who knows, maybe one day I will get myself to buy the tickets for one of the shows if they perform close to my place.
Here is the promised song, Alegría.

This song, Alegría, has very beautiful lyrics. And about your rambling... I think flowers have an absolute and brutal innocence. They are just busy being and flowing, while their worlds slowly fill with playful creatures, sharing the warmth and joy of the sun. 😉
This was very nicely and poetically said. ✨ Thank you very much for adding these thoughts here to make the Happiness park nicer ;)
It makes me even happier to contribute with something ;)
Apart from the paintwork on those two playground equipment, the rest of the park looks well kept. The orange flowers are beautiful, do you know what they're called? I don't think I've seen them before. I love the song, I knew it and it really conveys the alegría.
I also heard the song many times, but I can always go back to it and listen to it once again 😇
Yes, the plant with the orange flowers is called Pyrostegia venusta, I confess that I had to check the name, although it is a very familiar flower to me; my parents used to have it over the entrance gate to their courtyard. ;))
I knew the song because they used it as a closing song in a radio programme I used to listen to, it was a delight to end with that music and when I listen to it I am transported back then. Thanks for researching the name of the flowers, I see they are from the magnolia family, that explains their beauty. 😘
Hi @mipiano, thank you for this walk through felicity. You leave a lot of reflections of which I think I share quite a lot.... among them the enjoyment of the road. Thank you very much for sharing this walk with so full of good vibes.
A big hug.
The enjoyment of the path - this world would be a bit happier place if we, humans, didn't forget this ;)
Nothing to add... we have to enjoy small moments like these. 🙂
Happiness is at the end of the rainbow! Or just in that slide that I would love to slide down. Or in the palm trees, in the flowers...everywhere, we just have to stop chasing it and enjoy the way. How beautiful everything.I have seen from Malaga, thanks for this morning walk, here too at 9:00 AM is early...the roots that bind us to the motherland 🤣. Gracias por "Alegría", disfrutar de un espectáculo del Circo del Sol debe ser algo alucinante, no pierdas la oportunidad de hacerlo 🤗.
Hahaha, the influence of the motherland 😂
The song is powerful, maybe simple, but its message is nice ;) Thank you @mdrguez for walking with me in this happy place 🤗
Gracias por llevarnos contigo 🥰🤗
A beautiful park!! I also like palm trees, I think they give an air of grandeur to the places.
Happiness is relative for each one of us, right, what gives us joy may not give joy to someone else. I am trying to learn over the years not to strive to find happiness to hard because the truth is that we can get it in the simplest things, like looking at a flower, but sometimes we human beings make it difficult for no sense.
And speaking about early time in Spain, it makes me laugh. Because every time I talk to my sister in law who lives in Galicia, she complains when she has to get up early "madrugar" at 8 in the morning 😂😂 On this side of the pond madrugar is at 5 am LOL
Madrugar a las 8, siii, lo sé jaja, es diferente. We also had to adapt to this schedule. Oh, and the late dinners, that was tricky, but now it is quite normal for us to have it at 22h... as I arrive home at that time when I work. The days when I am free, of course, we have a bit better time for dinner ;D
The happiness theme, indeed, can be different for each one of us, although there are also those universal joys that I think all of us share. For example, feeling gratitude, and saying thank you, as I will also thank you for walking here with me. 😇
It's spectacular! I passed by there four years ago by chance... I haven't been back, but I didn't explore it thoroughly, I just sat down for a while to rest. I want to go back!😍
It is close to the Botanical Garden, you know. So when you go there, in front of this park is the bus stop too, toward the city centre ;)
Yes, that's the last bus stop. I'm not going to the botanical garden yet. But as soon as I go, I'll pass by there! Thank you.💗
It's been a while since the last time I read you.
Anyway, I missed it(reading you). Every time I do you take me with you in your walk with both, words and images.
We have plenty palm trees over here and sometimes I stop and admire their majestic stand, cause sometimes life keeps me from doing it properly.
I guess in its own way and through plants generally, nature gives is a peaceful hand, though flowers specifically are a beautiful view as well and somehow their beauty also contribute to that little peaceful space that hugs us through colorful and beautiful landscapes or just tiny gardens.
A pleasure reading and reaching you again.
Hey @hdez781220
Thank you for stopping by 😇 Nice view about the beauty of flowers and how they contribute to the whole pleasant time we can spend at a place like this. Thank you ;)
Oh never mind. It's always a pleasure stopping by. One I've been unable to get lately but hopefully not anymore. Thanks.
Such a beautiful area and yes from my visits to Spain I discovered there idea of early is sure different from mine lOL
Thanks for joining the Wednesday Walk
Have a great day
Hahaha, yes, we also found it strange when we came to live in Spain 😁 but we adapted quickly ;)
This park is very nice, with the playground , beautiful flowers and the green plants are perfectly wonderful to be here and feel the fresh air and enjoy this place.
Thank you @ronimarie82, I am glad you liked it 🌿
Is there any other way? 🤣
Is there a special reason why it is called Happiness Park?
Hahaha, maybe through fruits, but yes, to have fruits they first have to bloom ;)) 🌺
I am not sure, there was no info board that would explain the name of that park.
Gosh, take me from here and drag me there. Lovely apot, love!
Hahaha, maybe when I visit Malaga again ;)
I just love the Spanish laid back way of doing things. Mañana, mañana without the sense of urgency
Mañana, mañana, yes - that's good, though some people arrive from work at this time hahaha (well, not sure if this is funny 😂)
I guess when I worked if I didn't get into the office before 7:00am I considered myself late! I never worked beyond 4:00pm.
I sometimes get caught up in school and social stuff, but posts like this remind me to slow down and enjoy simple things—like a quiet morning walk or the sight of palm trees
When we work or stody it is not so easy to find that time, I actually had free days so could make this visit to Malaga
One more place to visit when we first travel to Spain. Thanks for sharing this with us. I add it on our list to go and see. 🥰
Malaga, as a city, is pretty and has quite a lot of history. It is worth visiting. ;)
Is a beautiful park!
Just like that, going to a place like this makes you feel relaxed and much more at peace. The natural views that these places have are much more spectacular and beautiful.
Hello @mipiano. Thank you for this post I really love it especially the part you talked about childhood. Childhood speaks so much about me and remembering it is a golden opportunity.
9:00 AM is also the time malls open here. Nice park where children can play around blooming flowers and trees. Those palm trees are my ideal tree.
Wow Nice pictures. I hope to visit Málaga someday
Spain is on my travel wishlist — and this peaceful park just made it climb even higher. Beautiful capture!
It looks like a lovely little park. I especially liked the orange flowers, they add a nice pop of color, and and the ones that haven't bloomed yet kinda look like little fingers or coral. With no one around, I would have been tempted to get in a sneaky go down that slide haha
Anyway, it looks like a nice walk, thank you for sharing!
That was a nice spot though the place was so quiet and there's no such people but it's enough to make some moments.
I love how you find happiness in small things like this park. Your words remind us to enjoy the little moments and never forget to have fun.
