Team building walk to the spring of the Susec stream

in Wednesday Walk2 years ago

At the end of last year, we had a team building session with my colleagues. Among other things, we went to the spring of the Susec stream, which rises next to the city of Ilirska Bistrica, located in south-western Slovenia, not far from the Croatian border.

After the obligatory morning coffee, we set off from the city centre in the direction of the spring. It was not a long and tiring journey, as we covered the distance of one kilometre very quickly, while talking all the time.

The trail itself was very interesting and scenic as we walked along the stream the whole time, so we really didn't worry about missing the trail 😉

The stream runs through the town and it's interesting to see how the town has adapted to it.

At the town edge, as the path turns into the woods, we passed an old abandoned factory, which, I don't know why, reminded me of the perfect location for a crime movie 😬.

The name Sucec itself means dry. The locals can tell you that the stream only appears during heavy rains, while it dries up during the dry season. It runs on karst terrain where the amount of ground water is small, so the stream only appears when there is enough water. The spring of the stream is a fan-shaped waterfall. As it had rained the previous day, the water flow of the stream was relatively high and it was the perfect time to take these photos.

We continued our circular route to the remains of Feistritz Castle, which lies on a rocky outcrop above the town of Ilirska Bistrica. The foundations and part of the former 12th-century castle are still visible. As a curious fact, the local biker club is named after the castle.

The next stop was Crne njive, a location offering a beautiful view of Ilirska bistrica and its surroundings. Unfortunately, the fog put an end to our expectations of a fantastic view. We only witnessed a fireplace, which testified that not long ago they had been having fun here and enjoying the beautiful view. Despite the fog, which we couldn't dispel, we had a great walk.

We finished our team building in style, with a great burger and a glass of home-brewed beer. I have no words to describe how yummy it was. In this brewery and pub in the village of Dolenje near Jelsane, they offer home-brewed beer and best burgers in town. So says the owner himself, who also admit that they are the best, becouse they are the only pub in the village 😁 Joke aside, it is a beautiful setting with amazing food and beer.

Do you remember the jukebox ? 😲

At the end of the day, unfortunately, our gathering came to an end and we were all looking forward to the next one, even though we know that we are still many working days away from it.

That was a full and complete walk. The streams and the green moss are so lovely. The beer at the end too!😊

Yes right, it was a full-day all-inclusive walk 😁 Thanks for stopping by!

This is such an amazing walk, reconnecting with nature. Everything is splendid.

The cleanliness of the surrounding is very attractive as there are really no traces of any trash around. So beautiful.

The water that keeps on flowing is so relaxing to hear and I am pretty sure the breeze of the air is soothing.

It was a full-day all-inclusive walk. The nature here is almost untouched, and luckily you can only find trash in the trash cans. The babbling of the stream was really relaxing, but the breeze was quite cold. Of course, it didn't force us home. See you around!

such a beautiful area, I love the waterfalls, and how the town has grown around the water and complimenting it in my opinion

that old abandoned factory I agree could be used for a crime or even a horror movie

Thanks for joining the Wednesday, its always fun for me to visit the walks from all around the world, getting a feel for communities where people live and what they see on their daily walks

Thank you @tattoodjay, it is my pleasure to share my walks in this wonderful community!
