A Walk In The Evening Twillight After Work

in Wednesday Walk3 years ago

It's been rather stressful lately and when the working day finally is over I don't have much energy left. It's easier though if I already have something booked to stay somewhat active. And yesterday I had a herbal course I'm attending on Tuesday evenings (online). Usually, I practice yoga straight after work, it's just a great way for me to still my mind and also to stretch my body. Yesterday, I didn't have any desire to do so though, and instead, I decided to go out for a walk. It was intersting because I usually don't do that at that time of the day unless I'm going somewhere if that makes sense 🙂

This was around 4.30 pm and it was already getting dark outside (even though the difference is huge compared to 2 months ago). So my pictures might be a bit dark. But I still think you'll get the idea. I also played around with editing a bit 🙂

Like last week the pictures are in the same order as I took them during my walk. This wasn't a long walk but it was nice to get out and don't feel like I was in any rush (everyone I observed during my walk was kind of in a rush, probably rushing from work to their next appointment/responsibility/activity).

This is about 10 minutes from where I live. I'm actually on a bridge but not a bridge over water, but a bridge over a park.

This is the bridge I was crossing.

After crossing the bridge I went down to the park.

This is one of many bridges in Stockholm. I used to live on the other side of that bridge. The other side is also part of the city center of Stockholm, in fact, it's a very hip area. I would say it's more 'neutral' where I live now and I like that better. I never found that 'hipness' to be relaxed at all. (For those of you who might be curious that area is called Hornstull).

More water.

I was also happy to hear a blackbird sing, I think it was the first time this year. Even though I live in the city center I hear birds in the mornings now and it's just such a great sign that spring is approaching 🙂

I was happy to be able to see the moon. I know it wasn't full yesterday, that's today. But still. That's one of the things I really feel I'm missing out on here in the city center. I have an app that notifies me when the full moon is approaching but if it wasn't for that I wouldn't notice most of the time. Which I find a bit sad.

Here I have left the park and I'm on my way back home. I don't live in this building but this is a common, and still very popular, architectural style here in Scandinavia that's called funkis. A lot of these kinds of buildings were built in the 1930s-1950s. (The building I live in is from the 1920s so it was built before the funkis style).

Almost back home I passed by a small chapel. (I pass by here a lot but I haven't really paid much attention to this building before, maybe because there is also a rather big church close by). You can kind of see the moon here in this picture as well but I wasn't really able to capture it well with my phone.

All of the pictures were shot with my iPhone 12 mini. Usually, I'm happy with this camera but lately, I have felt that it might be time to buy a new camera (I mean to not only use my phone to take pictures). I just find it so convenient and the cameras I do have are so old so the phone usually does a better job.

Thanks for reading 🌸

Love and blessings to you all 💚

Was wondering, what camera do you use? Those are some stunning shots. Can't be a phone camera, no way!

Thank you 🙂 I'm happy with phone camera most of the time.

What a lovely photos, I can feel the environment in the photos while reading through. You did a great job and I really like your surroundings

Thank you so much for this kind comment 🙂

Glad you liked my post.

Beautiful evening time photos!

Thank you 🙂

What a lovely place! I think I understand why funkis style is still so popular. It's nice

Thanks for stopping by 🙂

Glad you enjoyed my post. Yes the funkis style is still very popular here and yes, it's nice.

Such a beautiful area and I love that bridge
I think sometimes a walk just fir relaxation and nit because one is in a rush to get somewhere is very good fir our mind

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :), I truly enjoy exploring the world virtually each Wednesday seeing walks from all around the globe and feeling I am there and experiencing it all myself, such as I did in your post just now :)

Thank you. That bridge is one of the bigger ones in Stockholm 🙂 They had to install higher fences on it though because there were so many suicides. It was a popular bridge to jump from if you wanted to end your life.

Many of the bridges here also have fences on them, which is a shame for it messing up the view, but good if it prevent more suicides

Hello! I've never heard about the funkis style, the only one I know is funky music 🤣

Can you walk on the ice? Or it's not strong enough I guess. I love the reflections you got putting the phone at ground level. I agree with you, the Iphone pics are great, but there is something special about real cameras.

Hi Ed 🙂

Haha, funkis is actually a Swedish abbreviation of 'functionalism' (which is the same word in Swedish, just different spelling). Built to be functional but since they were built quite some time ago they are actually not that functional anymore.

No it's not possible to walk on the ice anymore, it's not strong enough. But sometimes wintertime it is, for sure.

I love the reflections you got putting the phone at ground level

Thank you. I actually do this a lot when I take pictures. I guess I just like that angle 🙂
