Wednesday Walk and Make Me Smile challenge: Granada

in Wednesday Walk3 years ago

Hi all👋🏻
With my first post in your community and challenge I want to share with you the beauty of Granada.
A small city on a mountain in the south of Spain.
Take you along on my walk through it.

I visited Granada the last week of November and had some cold, bad / rainy weather, but this didn’t make me stop from exploring the city. Enjoying and taking it all in.
It gave my photos a different look and feel. What I liked a lot.
They (the Photographs) don’t have clear blue skies like you usually would see from the south of Spain. I also loved to see the trees turned yellow, brown and red. All the fall colours. The area where I live doesn’t have trees that change with the autumn. 🍁🍂🍁 and that is the coast area.

Enjoy 😊 my Walk

This first stop is a viewpoint along the river Genil, close to the Puente Romano/ Roman bridge you see in the photo. In the distance the mountain on the left is part of the area where the Alhambra is located. A really big landmark here in Spain.

This next view can be found while visiting the Alhambra. I was standing at Generalife; an ancient Palace with beautiful gardens. My view was towards the city. Luckily the big clouds and weather cleared up after some heavy rain while walking up the hill.

This is the Patio de Los Leones; Alhambra’s Moorish palace & courtyard of the Lions, with famed fountain.

While we walk further… I show you a little part of the courtyard in the Palace of Charles V, this is still part of the Alhambra area you can visit.
It has a museum inside with an art collection from religious figures.

The most photographed garden from the Generalife I couldn’t with hold.

I must say also, most fountains were not working like they would in “normal” times.

As I walked down the mountain again, leaving the Alhambra and all the other Palaces, following the Darro river, climbing up through the narrow streets opposite the Alhambra. You can view the Alhambra from afar. With this result:

Along the Darro river you find these views:

I want to finish our walk back to the Center of Granada, with Plaza de Bib-Rambla. You see here the sculpture of Neptune atop of this 17th century stone and marble fountain. It has many intricate details if you look closer. It was truly fascinating.

Thank you so much for sharing the history and beauty of Granada with us!

I have heard of it before but have never been there as I haven't had a chance to get to Spain yet- YET! 😃

But I will one day soon and as soon as I do, Off to Granada I will be thanks to you!

You are welcome 🙏
It is truly beautiful and has so much history and sites/landmarks to visit. I’m glad I could share it with you.
One day… you will 😉

Well funny I had some serious plans to be in Alicante with my good friend October just past for my 50th BD, but ofcourse, didn't go anywhere and won't be able to for a while as now I have to recover from the financial loss that our lockdowns caused....but one day and sooner rather than later, I will be there!

Sorry to hear, that you where not able to go. Especially for your 50th. Crazy times… hoping for better times to come 🍀🍀
Many plans changed during the outbreak. I was supposed to travel to Australia and New Zealand for the first time… That didn’t go ahead too, and was not refunded. But I’m still here and happy to be alive 😎

We will recover, I keep thinking positive!
One day you are able to travel again too…
Sending some love 🥰

It may not be clear skies but they are still beautiful

Oh, Granada, loved this place when we visited it!! Although, it was cold, it was one year in November!

Very nice post ;)

Thank you 😊
Coincidence when I visited it was also November and cold, but rainy too this year. It’s a great city to visit.

Oh, that is a coincidence indeed :)))

Well, November is the best time for roasted chestnuts, so many street stands that I found... and bought hot chestnuts.
Hahaha, black fingertips after eating them :D

Indeed, the roasted chestnuts are everywhere… 😎
Tried them a few times, but I’m not a fan.
I do like the smell… it adds to winter idea and the days up to Christmas.
