Wednesday Walk - Our gossip took us to the outskirts of the city: 8 km according to the map. 😅❤️

If there is something that characterizes the walks that my friend and I take, it's everything we walk on. Since neither of us has a vehicle, whenever we choose a place to go for a walk we make sure that there are nice things to do and that we can get there on foot. I think that on each trip we increase our resistance in the walk, and since this time we chose a quiet walk to a town without mountains or anything like that, we were able to walk a lot during the afternoon. And by enough I mean that we went far, far 😅.

For my birthday this year I decided that I wanted to go for a walk just like last year. Some inconveniences prevented me from saving enough for a super distant trip, but I was still able to find a place to go, close and according to my budget. This place is a town called San Pedro, just 200 km from the center of Buenos Aires, which could easily be reached by train. Although it is somewhat small, it has a fairly large shopping center and a riverfront full of greenery and vegetation, which in my opinion, was the main attraction of the place 😃.

On the recommendation of the hosts of the hostel, the first afternoon of our trip, my friend and I went to the coast and started walking in an easterly direction. The weather was very strange: despite being almost winter, it was quite hot and made you want to be outdoors. The recommendations I had read about San Pedro were true: a quiet town, with plenty of greenery and silence in the afternoon, which made me feel safe walking through its streets. So much so that for a moment we don't look at the map anymore, we just keep walking and walking 😅.

Like most of the beautiful places we visit, a large part of this Paraná River waterfront belongs to private fishermen's complexes and yacht clubs. I had read that there was a public descent to the river, but after walking for a while, we never found it. The hosts of the hostel had told us that walking to the east we could appreciate the landscape, but the street we visited did not see any landscape and it was already too late to go back. I guess it would have been nice to check the map a bit before moving on 😅.

Since there was still a lot of sunlight left, we decided to continue walking in the direction we were going on the condition that we find a good street to turn and return to the center of town. The problem was that as we continued walking, that beautiful place we were walking through began to disappear and everything became quite desolate. There were hardly any people on the street anymore, which made me a little scared and I wanted to run back, but my friend forced me to continue, saying that nothing bad was going to happen (and actually nothing bad happened 😶).

A while later we could see that the place where we were was the Port of San Pedro. Along the way we came across very few people, we only saw some workers on the other side of the wire fences but no one else. This was completely understandable because the truth is that the place was not very beautiful to take a walk, but since we had walked so far, we looked for a place to rest a bit. I think that if I had seen photos of this place before I went, I would not have even approached it, but there we were 😂.

When we finally checked the map a bit to see where we were, we saw that we had gone a long way from the center. It had not even seemed to me that we walked that much but it was. When we started the walk back, we went to a service station to ask if there was any public transport that would take us back to the center but unfortunately there was none and we had to complete the journey on foot. This time there was no trekking in the mountain but there was a city tour around the entire contour of San Pedro 😅.

My feet needed a good rest after that.

Something that caught my attention as soon as I arrived in San Pedro was the excessive amount of motorcycles and bicycles, but after this walk I understood why. If there is no bus, it is better that you have your own transport to avoid walking so much from one place to another. However, this little walk represented those memorable anecdotes that we now have to tell and that I share with you today in this Wednesday Walk. My final recommendation: check Google Maps a bit before going to an unknown place 😅.

They say that you get to Rome by asking questions and walking too.

I like your post for two reasons: The first is that you went and came back well after a long walk. *I like to walk, but my legs are not good enough for long walks anymore. You got to know a new place, which, as you say, would never have been on your travel itinerary. The second reason is that you brought joy to the local people. I can already imagine the few people looking at them with pleasure. I tell you this because I have lived in a village and that happens when someone from abroad arrives.

The best thing about all this is that through your publication you are giving visibility to a territory that perhaps many Argentines are unaware of. I remembered the movie Cars. I love it by the way.

Thank you very much for sharing your experience.

¡Saludos ❤️!

Igualmente 😊

Ahhh I see now your weird walk! Well "ni tan mal" maybe a bit long and some foot pain later, and it seems also a strange area and curiously when we get "lost" in those kind of places usually we can't find many people there... why? jajaja
The beginning of the walk was nice, in a green area, and not cold weather even there it's almost winter. And to be honest sometimes it's good to forget Google Maps and phones and just walk without knowing, well until we feel that it can be too much!! 😅😅

Ooh, I was just really worried to run into bad people or thieves haha. These desolate places are often dangerous, and I think I was there only because it was a town they called "quiet." In the City of Buenos Aires where I live there are places that are similar to this but I would not go under any circumstances 😅.

Yes that's the only problem to be alone in a dangerous zone, in our own cities this is more difficult as we know all the areas the safe and unsafe areas... when we are out there in different cities that can be an issue and we need to be aware too. Hope always when that happens it's just an anecdote! 😅

Google map forever✌🏼😅

From now on, yes 😅

thanks for sharign your walk and a cool one even if longer and not quite the walk you initially planned on

Thanks to you for stopping by :)

Felicidades

What a beautiful way to celebrate your birthday, very original.
On one occasion I visited that charming place, and it is as you say, it is an area to visit by car, otherwise you have to walk a lot.
I appreciate that you have shared this pleasant experience
have a wonderful dayHow are you dear friend @lauramica Good morning

Hello Luis, it's good that you were able to visit San Pedro. It would have been nice to have a car but walking we could also see some nice things :)
