The Story of How I Hopped onto the Wednesday Walk Bandwagon | #1

adorable savage puppies. But seriously, finding out that my cellphone's charging cable had been chewed up by our doggos was really nasty. And because of that, I now have another opportunity to go out and search for a replacement. Now, I could have just ridden public transportation going to the town center, but where's the fun in that.THIS #wednesdaywalk adventure began long before I woke up this morning. In fact, it was hatched up in the darkness of the night by something sinister and nefarious -

The plot unfolds...

It was an unfortunate morning. Why "unfortunate" you may ask? Because, as I've said earlier, I discovered that my charging cable had been damaged and found out about it through the Slow Charging notification had not popped up when I plugged it into the electric outlet.

These things happen when you least expect it and at the worst timing ever - seriously. Upon examination, I found the damaged parts and concluded that it be best to just get a new cable so I got out of the house to find a new one.

It was hot outside but I did not mind. Being able to walk is a luxury that I loved doing anytime and every time I get the chance to do so.

Street and Sky

The sun out was doing its thing and shining brightly and the people were also out walking, which was good to see. Surprisingly, most of the people I saw along the way were wearing face masks, a good sign for me that people are still taking the pandemic seriously and that they aren't taking any chances with their health even with the declaration of the voluntary wearing of masks in public places.

Fruits of the season.

The street vendors were out in full force too. I guess they wanted to take advantage of the sunny day when people are out of the house. It has been raining straight for a few days and their business needs a boost. I hope they sell out all of their produce before the next typhoon comes in for a visit.

Everything looks ripe and delicious. The colors are vibrant and pleasing to the eyes. 👀

Finding the right one

I got to the first stall at the electronics section of the public market and asked for a C-type cable and it was a cheap one at 150.00 pesos (US$2.64). I passed up on this because it feels a little flimsy and doesn't really fit snugly when I tried it out on my phone and charger. I decide to go to the "Cyberzone" at the mall.

With the one I saw earlier as baseline for the price and the quality, I now have an idea on the price and build quality that I will be looking for when I look at the ones available inside the mall.

1.Hardworking and patient saleslady.2. Bavin 2.4A Type-C Cable.
10.jpg11.jpg

The first stall that I approached sold the C-type that I was looking for (I guess this is a fairly common product that people buy). I eventually bought this one, which I haggled successfully; it was priced at 350.00 pesos (US$6.16) down to 300.00 (US$5.28).

It felt nice and sturdy, but also had a a spring at the ends where they connect to the USB and C-type plug. This will make it more flexible and, hopefully, adds to the durability and lifespan of the product. It also looked cool with a beige or is it more of a light copper color and springs. Not only was the saleslady knowledgeable, she was also extra patient with me (note: I told her that i will upload the photo I took on my blog and I could see her smile from behind the face mask, which I took as a yes to publishing her photo).

We already tested the cable but I wanted to make sure that it works properly so I plugged it in the wall outlet at my "new favorite coffee and donut shop" before I got on my way home. It works great and looks great, so I have to feel great about it too. I mean, what's not to like about this. Comparing it to the first one I looked at, I am happy with the purchase, this Bavin data cable was absolutely fantastic.

Detour.

All this walking had made me hungry, and looking around, I saw something which I have not eaten for a long time: Binatog. So, this is soft white corn that are steamed or boiled, topped with grated coconuts, and flavored with salt. Modern binatog can be sweet or have flavors, such as condensed milk or cheese added as toppings.

1.Nice and clean outlet. Kudos to the staff.2. I chose the classic salty version with coconuts.

Got what I needed, now time to go home.

After that nice little binatog snack, which set me back 30 pesos (US$0.53), I went out and walked some more to check out what the vendors have brought out in the sidewalks.

An old lady was selling these fabulous looking orchids, rubber tree plant, and other plants I'm not familiar with. I was not out to buy plants and resisted my plantito tendencies so I just admired and went on my way.

Another vendor was selling my favorite suman, but I had just finished eating binatog so I passed on this one as well.

There were a few more photos that I took but this post is too long already. Maybe I will upload the rest in the next blog post.

Back home after my Wednesday Walk!

Happy to get back after my foray into the town center, I was preparing to use my newly bought charger cable when I spotted something fishy out of the corner of my eyes. Another fiasco masterminded by our two puppies. Sigh.

My wife will not be happy when she finds that her precious books have been ransacked. LOL. That was the cheap mouse that I bought online for around US$3.00. Luckily, they have not been able to get to the other stuff on the table. I guess we should be thinking more about training them to not bite everything they can lay their paws on. It would also be prudent to put away stuff in a box that they cannot get in. LESSON LEARNED.

To end, this was a bitter-sweet experience for me. On the one hand, I was able to go out, get my body to exercise, and publish a blog post on the @wednesdaywalk community. On the other hand, it was a bit hard to see stuff destroyed by our pets. Looking at the bright side, I have another reason to go out for to get myself a new mouse.

That's it for now. Thanks for dropping by. Love and peace.

P.S. These are the two pups causing all of the misadventures. We still adore them, but they have to be trained properly, for sure. Both of them are 3 months old.

1.Starmall is a rescued pup; I guess she's too tired from all the playing and running around.2. Luna was given to us by my wife's office mate. She is always full of energy.

Hindi kami nagtatali ng mga dogs namin eh. haha. Okay lang yan kay misis. !LUV niya ang mga puppies. 😁

I guess what the doggo did to your charger cable is a "blessing" is disguise dahil nakalabas ng bahay. But ahahsha, blessing pa nga kaya yon if napagastos ka ulit, lol. Pero we can relate to that. Our dog is also like that.

😁!PIZZA

Felt hunger upon exploring this blog 🤣 I want that suman badly 😭

Suman for the win, @curiouscatho. I !LUV suman with in hot chocolate drink with brown sugar on top. 😆

Aguy, lots of stuff were destroyed. Gonna keep my blood pressure in check if I was you, 😆 but doggos can't be pinch in their thighs like how you scold kids anyway. Just take a deep breath, Juan.

Yeah. We know the consequences of owning dogs so all good for us on this side of the world. 😂 !PIZZA
