Wednesday evening walk in Poreč, Croatia

in Wednesday Walk2 days ago

Hello everyone. It's time for the Wednesday Walk, an inspiring challenge hosted by @tattoodjay.

Last summer I was again happy to walk the streets of Poreč town, which is especially beautiful in the evening.

Poreč is located on the Istria peninsula in the northern part of the Croatian coast. It is my favorite Istrian town and I am always happy to return there. Its blend of ancient history, coastal charm, and lively atmosphere makes it my favorite city in Istria.

As soon as we stepped through the streets of the old town, I felt the well-known lively summer spirit that brings us back to this place every time.

There were a lot of people at Freedom Square, a well-known gathering place. They are mostly tourists and you can hear various foreign languages, Czech, Italian, German...

The old Church of Our Lady of the Angels from the 18th century is located on Freedom Square.

The restaurants were full and the crowd was big. We passed by the Pentagonal tower, a historical building from the 15th century.

My son found it interesting when we entered it last time, so he asked me to take a peek inside it again.

In the evening, Porec is especially charming. As you peek into every corner between the medieval walls.

The combination of jazz music and the old Istrian spirit was especially pleasant that summer evening when we were walking.

In some streets there were no people at all and it was very quiet.

In contrast, some were crowded with people.

The smell of pasta, fish and wine from the restaurants could be felt everywhere.

By chance, I entered a passage where stone monuments from the 2nd and 3rd centuries were displayed.

At the end of the walk, we stopped for a while by the sea in silence and looked at the water that was shining from the surrounding lights. It was a nice evening. Worth repeating.

Poreč was always a great destination for vacation, but I was there 15 years ago. I think it is time for me to visit again :) Thank u for a little bit of summer vibes ;)

isnt it funny how a place can feel so different from day to night
