Hello Hivers in the Wednesday Walk community. It's Wednesday again, where are you planning to walk to today? If not, join my walk to discover Kon Pring Village, a community cultural tourism village in Dak Long commune in the mountainous district of Kon Plong, Kon Tum province.
This is a village of the Xo Dang ethnic minority. It is located along Highway 24 and is about 3km from the town center. I rode my motorbike there, and then left my motorbike at the turn to walk in to explore the village. There is a dirt road leading into the village from the highway.
My first impression of the village was its beautiful scenery. The village is nestled among rice fields next to a forest. The locals live in harmony with nature. Traditional wooden houses and stilts are a characteristic feature of this village.
And communal houses are a feature of the villages of the Xo Dang people. Each of their villages will have a communal house like this where they organize the activities of the whole village.
Another feature is the small houses containing rice. After the rice is harvested, it will be stored in these small houses because for the locals, rice is a very important food, so they don't want to store it in their house to avoid a fire.
Nestled between rice fields and at the edge of a forest, the nature around the village is very beautiful. Standing on a hill next to the village, I see mostly green.
This is a mannequin created by the locals to scare away birds from eating rice.
A huge poplar tree right next to the road.
Because of the mountainous terrain, terraced fields are very popular here.
The rice fields are located right next to the forest edge at the foot of the mountains.
A buffalo is leisurely grazing in the field. Here buffalo are close friends of the locals.
The village was formed on either side of a river. So to connect the two banks of the river, the locals built a suspension bridge, which is also a feature of Xo Dang villages.
The locals here mainly live on agriculture. Although they have a rather hard life, I have seen them also lead a simple and happy life. They are hard working, honest and kind people. The locals here have also been very friendly with my arrival.
This is a popular means of transportation for the locals. It has been modified to suit the terrain and transportation requirements of the local people.
Locals start riding motorbikes when they are quite young, you will be able to see a lot of teenagers riding motorbikes here.
The locals are on their way home from work after a hard day's work.
And an image that made me quite emotional was a mother carrying her child while working in the field. Because life is difficult, the women here have to start working fairly soon after they give birth, and they have no choice but to carry their children behind when they go out to work.
That's my walk today. In addition to the fact that I enjoyed a lot of beautiful scenery, I learned a lot about the people, culture and life of the Xo Dang ethnic minority people at Kon Pring Community Cultural Tourism Village. I hope you also enjoy the walk with me. Thank you for taking the time to read my post and have a nice day!
