Hi fellow Hiveians,
Today I wanted to share a few photos from a recent trip I took with the little man to an apple orchard!
Late Summer Flower Walk
The end of summer is upon is, which is both sad and refreshing. We get to experience all kinds of wonderful things at this time of year, one of the important ones is the turn of autumn!
With the turning of autumn comes the last phase of the fruit picking for us in the area: apples! Apple picking is definitely one of the best and most important activities I've done consistently throughout my whole life. We would go apple picking when I was a kid because it's a nice way to spend a day as a family and to pick some delicious and fresh fruits!
The apple orchard we visited was one we found last year. The funny thing about it is that it's been there for years! We drive by it pretty regularly.. but we never stopped in for whatever reason. Hell, I don't think we even realized what it was in all honesty! Thankfully one day my wife found it and we laughed to ourselves when we drove up and realized where it was..
Since then we try to go a few times. We have some friends who want to come with us and will go again but for this time, the little man and I went apple picking. When we got off the tractor ride to bring us to the apples, they told us that we could pick whatever flowers we wanted! Score!
This time of year is definitely a good one for these types of flowers. They plant them earlier in the year and these things grow pretty big. If we were to buy a bouquet of these flowers at the store or a florist they would definitely be pretty expensive! So we are glad that we got to pick a bunch of these and it came with the entry to the orchard.
The nice thing about it as well is the admitting cost here was just buying whichever bag of apples we wanted. Because we like to eat apples in our house, we picked the big bag! So we got a big bag of apples, and we got the ability to pick some fresh flowers. That was a pretty good score I think.
I loved the varying and different colors of the flowers too. I won't profess to know what kind of flowers these are, because I truly have no clue. However, I do love that it's not just pink and red like many flowers are. There are varying shades of colors and I've seen some purple ones as well which was really cool. This field didn't have the purple ones that I could see but the thing was pretty big and we didn't explore all of the different areas.
We ended up getting lots of flowers! We picked some for my wife, and two friends of ours that we were going to see for a birthday so it ended up being a really beneficial trip in different ways. Lots of fresh, delicious apples and lots of fresh beautiful flowers!

That's great thank you!
You had me at apple orchard and all I got was flowers!
Brought back memories of the kids when they were younger and I had to go digging for the photos.
We always ended up bringing home a ridiculous amount of apples but there is nothing like fresh off the tree.
Hahaha such wonderful memories man! Apple picking is by far one of my favorite autumn activities. I've been going apple picking for over 2 decades now, it's really wild to think about! Ever since my son was born, we've taken him every year. We need to make sure to take pictures this year, we didn't do it last year sadly. He's getting to the point soon where he's too big to go on my shoulders! 😭
Finally someone else around here enjoys apple picking hahaha it seems to be rare!
Also, Mac's are great, but lately Cortland is my favorite!
I never went apple picking, except for in our own garden when I grew up. At the time it was not 'a thing' in Germany, not sure if it is now. I've seen apple picking around here but while the two of us eat a lot of apples - you still don't need many apples. I totally get that it is fun as family and a tradition for you. Keep it up!
p.s. and next time share some of those apple photos 😁
Hahaha yeah the next post will have actual apples in it!
That's good that you had lots of fresh stuff when you were in Germany but it was in your yard. It would be nice if this was a trend that caught on there but who knows.
I remember going to orchards when I was a kid. They were always so fun. I haven't been to one lately, but I drive past a couple each day and they have been crazy packed lately.
Oh yeah for sure they are the place to be for so many people this time of year. Hopefully you can take your wife to one for old times sake :D
Maybe next month!
Nice flower photos! Whee!
Thanks they were beautiful for sure!
So you got food, a lovely time with your son and two birthday gifts all at the price of one bag of apples😂😂😂
Yeah talk about bargain shopping :D
