Hello there fellow Hivers! How are you doing today? I hope all is well with you.
I found myself walking on this pedestrian bridge under the scorching heat of the sun. In front of me was my mother, walking ahead while I took a moment to capture this shot.
Below us was the noise of a very busy road, and overhead was the ongoing construction of a metropolitan railway. This is the view of the path we were walking.
Today, I was on my way to the satellite office of the city’s municipal hall to fix some legal documents.
A few days ago, I had been contemplating and planning to change the declared place of my residency on my legal documents. You might assume I'm doing this because I've moved to a new city, but that's not the case. The actual reason is that I'm aiming to access a student scholarship available only to residents of the city where I intend to transfer my residency. It would be a waste if I couldn't make use of my grades. My grades fall into bracket A, which would earn me an estimated P3,000 or around $60 if I just completed the requirements.
I told my mom about this matter because I don’t know the process or requirements needed to transfer my residency. I was hoping she might know how to proceed, what’s the process, etc.. She said she would reach out to my aunt, whose daughters work at the barangay office. I was relieved by what she said, knowing it would make handling the paperwork much easier.
So today, my mother accompanied me. It's a bit embarrassing, to be honest, because it looks like I’m too dependent on her, even needing assistance to fix my own documents. But I had no choice but to bring her along since she and my aunt are very close. Plus, I didn't know how to approach and start a conversation after several years of being timid and not talking to her, LOL.
Reaching the local satellite office of the municipal hall, my mother called my aunt where my aunt responded by giving a set of instructions. A few minutes later, my cousin who works there greeted us and invited us inside the office building. She asked for some of my documents and my mother's valid ID, photocopied each, and brought them to the registrar. The rest is history; I received my local ID, which will be used as proof that I live here.
Just a heads-up: I was born in Muntinlupa, and even though we moved to another city after buying a house there, the process we underwent is 100% valid and legal, hahaha.
After thanking my dear cousin, we moved on to our next agenda: transferring my voter's registration here in Muntinlupa. This is another step I need to take to further prove that I truly reside here. Fortunately, the process was smooth since the process only involved presenting my local ID, filling out a form, and providing biometric information such as my retina scan and fingerprint.
Filing for the voter transfer isn't the final step in becoming a bona fide resident. I still need to obtain a specific additional ID exclusive to residents of Muntinlupa, and I also need to update my information for my Philippine National ID. It's quite a lengthy and tedious process, but considering the benefits I'll receive from the city, I believe it's worth it. If only my current city provided some student assistance, I wouldn't be in such a hassle!
After successfully registering, we decided to reschedule our remaining appointment to another week. It was getting late, and we didn't want to get caught in heavy traffic on our way home. So, we spent the remaining time wandering around and eating in Jollibee. Here’s some pictures!
We passed by a thrift shop, so we decided to browse clothes, bags, and even shoes. But it's quite expensive, so we just looked around.
We got hungry, so before going home, we ate at Jollibee. It was a simple meal to ease our hunger.
At the end of the day, I am glad that I've done something meaningful, and I am finally at ease knowing that I have already taken action about it. It seems like a productive Wednesday for me.
Congratulations. That was a lengthy process, but you made it. You even made your day great by strolling around and having a meal with your mom before heading home.
Thank you! It was indeed a long process pero para sa scholarship go lang 😂
So many process talaga no, but if its for the scholarship, thats really a wise decision. That 3k would be a big help to your study for sure. Good luck sa natitirang papers na need pang ayusin ✨. Kapag ako to, naku, hihilahin ko talaga ang mama dahil i'm really not good approaching people. Baka diko magawa ang need gawin dahul nauunahan nang shyness, lolol
