My wonderful and breathtaking WednesdayWalk at the Eden lookout in NSW, Australia

Hi there guys I hope that you’re all well and saying safe and praying for all of our beautiful friends in both the Ukraine and Russia that are all being affected by this terrible and unnecessary war.

I’m coming to you from the future again because I won’t be able to post on Wednesday proper like I normally do because I am at my last day of the AIDC- Australian International Documentary Conference https://www.aidc.com.au, putting myself out there, putting my best foot forward, my biggest smile, swallowing any shyness, swallowing the nervousness and stepping forward to sell not only my documentary projects but also myself to the biggest wigs in Australian and international television.

So with thanks to @tattoodjay for creating this wonderful community for us all to gather in to share our part of the world- regardless of who we are, where we come from, what our political and religious beliefs are and what our leaders portray us to be to the rest of the world, we are who we are and we come here together in peace and harmony in the #WednesdayWalk community to welcome, support and love each other as we are friends- we are community, we put the unity in our global commUnity and as #Hive has no boundaries, no agendas, no prejudice and no desire to do anything other than see us and it thrive, we are here to show the rest of the world how peace and prosperity is done, so to my friends @lilideleopolis @zirochka @priyanarc @bambuka and all of my other friends that I have met on here over the past 18months, I don't care which side of the fence you are on, I know that this is not your doing, I just pray with all of my heart and soul that this will be over for you quickly.

LOOKOUT3.JPG

So continuing on my journey up the coast of the far south coast of New South Wales from the magical, enchanting Bittangabee Bay, the Mysterious Seahorse Inn, then turning into the historic whaling town of Eden, we first visit the lookout to take in the stunning views of Twofold Bay and beyond because there's a lot to see and learn about here.

At Eden, the shoreline around the wharf area at Snug Cove and the lookout on the headland in the heart of Eden are places to see volcanic features. The headland – Middle Head – gives Twofold Bay its name, jutting proudly out into the great bay, separating it into its two ‘folds’. The headland is made of hard, erosion-resistant volcanic rock.

Across from the lookout stands the white pole of the ‘lighthouse’ leading the way to Snug Cove. Below the lighthouse, the massive cliff is formed from ignimbrite. https://www.eden.nsw.au/geologic-eden/

And then up to the memorial garden, dedicated to those lost on the "Shiralee"

And now we look across the Bay, back onto the Seahorse Inn, which I showed you around here last week https://peakd.com/hive-155530/@chocolatescorpi/my-wonderful-wednesday-walk-around-the-stunningly-scenic-seahorse-inn-at-the-historic-ben-boyd-town-at-eden-in-nsw

SEAHORSE.JPG

And now you we are looking across the other side of the bay all the way to the historic lookout tower that Ben Boyd built back to spot the whales innocently swimming past so they could send out the boats and man with their harpoons to slaughter them......Killer whales have been key players in the history of whaling starting with the Tharwa, 6,000 years ago, and ending with the Davidson whaling family. The Orcas are now returning to Eden and are part of the whale watching attractions....

BOYD TOWER.JPG

Boyd’s tower, built as a lighthouse in the 1840s but never used for that purpose, sits atop the long, sloping southern headland of Twofold Bay. Both headlands of Twofold Bay are formed of ancient river sediment – pink sandstone and red mudstone – deposited during the Devonian period 360 million years ago.

BOYD TOWER 2.JPG

And now we're looking around the bay towards the marina as From the early habitation of the Tharwa people of the Yuin Nation, through European settlement up to today, Eden’s affinity with the ocean is deep. Whales, whaling and fishing have played a large part in the development of the town. The Greenseas fish cannery was a major industry for 40 years in Eden. https://www.eden.nsw.au/eden-timeline/

Looking across the bay to what some- many would consider to be not only the biggest eyesore, but also a major contributor to climate change- the chipmill, whereas others consider it to be there way or life and a much needed income. I'll let you decide on that controversial topic...But I know what side of the fence my opinions lay...anyhooo....

BOAT.JPG

The huge arc of Twofold Bay’s southern and western parts is a sea-carved landscape formed in soft sandstone and mudstone since the sea rose to its present level 6000 years ago. During the last ice age that ended about 20,000 years ago, a great river flowed through a rocky gorge across what is now Twofold Bay. The drowned gorge is now filled with sand It is clearly visible in sonar maps of the sandy bay floor. These maps are on display at the Sapphire Coast Marine Discovery Centre in Snug Cove.

And after a rather quick visit and missing out on seeing so many more interesting and significant things to this gorgeous are, We say goodbye to our beautiful #FeatheredFried, the Magpie to head down to the marina and into the town in next weeks #WednesdayWalk.

Hey, Kudos for braving the AIDC conference and proudly selling your work! That takes a lot of courage and confidence which I'm pretty sure you pulled off!

As always, I enjoyed your Wednesday Walk. It's nice to see the Twofold Bay having boards with information on animals for people to read and be aware of. And I hear that Australia is the best place to freedive with Whales! Urgggh I would love to do that someday!

Thankyou @indayclara yes that's the only way to do it- sell yourself for it is just as important for me to show them how good I am (so they will know that they can work with me) just as much as how invaluable my projects are. I consider every second I am here to be one massive job interview...

And yes, although I'm not sure if you really should be diving with whales as they are so big and although not necessarily intentionally nasty, but a bit like me- big and sometimes clumsy (although I am sure I am much, MUCH clumsier than them...lol...) it is an amazing spot to freedive here and there are numerous places to do it where there's colourful coral, caves and all kinds of nooks and crannies in that crystal clear water -which can be very cold and you do have to watch out for the sharks....but you are always welcome to stay at my place here when you come over and I will even take you to these spots! 😃 (I'll keep your towel company on land though....🤣...)

you are always welcome to stay at my place here when you come over and I will even take you to these spots! 😃 (I'll keep your towel company on land though....🤣...)

Ohhh lala! Damn, I will definitely now include Australia in my manifestion/vision board!
Although sooner or later, I knew I would have to visit your beautiful country. Thank you so much for the offer!

I hope you did well on your interview! Wishing you great days ahead!

Well YES absolutely Australia MUST be on your travel list! and at the very TOP too!

And yes, I'm sure I did and it was pretty much one long interview that went from 9am to 10pm for 4 days in a row as I consider every second at this conference to be an interview because not only are they judging my projects and the feasibility of them, but also me to see if they can work with me...So now it's all about my projects and I am going to do all of my followups on Monday as I had to go straight back to work (and hungover and exhausted too..lol...) so thank you, I really appreciate your support and I will post about it soon!

such a beautiful area, that tower is cool, I wonder why it never was used as a lighthouse

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :), I truly enjoy exploring the world virtually each Wednesday seeing walks from all around the globe and feeling I am there and experiencing it all myself, such as I did in your post just now :)

Yeah but I'm sure the tower was probably used as much more than what has been written about it in the history books as afterall, Ben Boyd was reportedly a slave trader and blackbirder, so maybe that's why it wasn't used as a lighthouse....

So how are you liking my shots as they were all taken on the new nikon...Until the batter ran flat, but the first few were shot on the nikon until I got up to the gardens and they were shot on my iphone And the bird was shot on the nikon too...wish I hadv'e thought to get in closer to it's eye...

Ohh yeah thats true, it may well be best we dont know what other uses it had
you new camera is doing great, can you get spare batteries I know from experience how frustrating it is if your battery goes flat

Yessss so best leave it to my imagination (as it already knows what would've happened there...)

And yes, I do know I can get spare batts for $50 and I will when I can afford them...lol...

I met this guy at my doco conference the other day (got smashed together too ofcourse...lol...) https://seanbrandtstudio.com/bio and going to try to hook up with him soon for some lightpainting! 😃

Yes always good to let our imagination run wild
Cool you met that guy looking forward to seeing what you get when you do a shoot with him

My mind already see the results. Let's just hope that my brain and hands behave and work together to get those same results when we do...😅

I am sure you will do great
I have bene trying to talk one person here who was into photography to do some light paiting sessions, but I think he has lost interest, hopefully one day I will find someone

I wish you all the luck and bravery for the conference dear @chocolatescorpi 🤞🏻🤞🏻🍀🍀

Such a beautiful walk you show us today… and so much to see. I went back to look at the photos again 😎
Beautiful. The wide boardwalk. The look from the other side to the inn.

The tower and the story about it. And the eye sour in the bay…
Thank you so much for sharing 🥰 looking forward to next weeks walk.
Much love 🤗🤗

Fingers crossed that this will finally be the year that I can get some kind of a deal happening with my projects (after 10yrs of trying...)Thanks yo so much @littlebee4 I really appreciate your support.

Can't wait till you get here so I can show you those spots IRL!

Thinking of you today 🤞🏻🤞🏻🍀🍀

Thank you so much 😊

Thank you @littlebee4, I am going to do all of my followups this Monday as I had to go straight back to the joyless day job (but atleast now I have one to pay the rent and bills...) and so fingers crossed I can convince someone to help me get my stuff in production and on air soon!

We understand. You are welcome @chocolatescorpi, take your time 🥰😊👋🏻

🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 Fingers still crossed!!!

The place is wonderful, it's a pleasure to the eyes. Feels like I can breathe the fresh air from here!

Oh yes @rem-steem it is, so wonderful and fresh, sea salty air!

Come, smell it with me! 😃

What a beautiful and amazing place, I've never been to Australia, but have always wanted to go. I love the sea and to see it in all it's iterations makes me happy, so thank you for this. And well done you for selling yourself so well @chocolatescorpi we do what we must for our art and passions :)
