DOWN A COUNTRY LANE

in Wednesday Walk3 years ago (edited)

After driving around with a friend, about thirty kilometers, from my hometown through the city of Pula and then north along the inland road that passes by many small towns and villages ...

img_1011_malo.jpg

... I parked at the beginning of the narrow country lane ...

img_1003_malo.jpg

... that leads ... well, now I know where, but some hours ago when these photographs were taken, this was a mysterious little road for me, and every strange thing that one can imagine, seemed waiting at the end of that lane. Everything seemed fairly possible at the beginning of the walk.

img_1004_malo.jpg

I hiked through many places in this area but never walked this particular road.

img_1012_malo.jpg

Small oak trees still had plenty of autumnal leaves on their branches ...

(Enlargeable)

... but many other shrubs and trees were completely barren.

img_1007_malo.jpg

Soon we came across this wild rose, a small shrub ...

img_1005_malo.jpg

... covered with colorful fruits.

img_1009_malo.jpg

There was frost on the ground, in the shade under the shrubs and trees.

img_1010_malo.jpg

Some minutes later ...

img_1014_malo.jpg

... we passed by this railway crossing sign.

img_1018_malo.jpg

I stop to photograph some beautiful small details decorated with frost ...

(Enlargeable)

... on the shady side of the road ...

img_1019_malo.jpg

... when a man on the tractor passed by. He was transporting the farmyard manure, probably to some field not far from here.

(Enlargeable)

A couple of minutes later, a bit further down the road, I photographed this little truck.

(Enlargeable)

About fifty meters or so, we were passing by this slightly surreal, damaged & tilted railway crossing sign.

img_1025_malo.jpg

Another twenty, maybe thirty or forty, meters of slow, leisure walking ...

img_1021_malo.jpg

... and we reached the first houses. Tzukrichi it's a pretty small village. I heard about it, but this was my first encounter with this place.

img_1023_malo.jpg

Here you can take a look at some partially cleared property that was probably part of the surrounding woods not so long ago. Now it's only sparsely covered with oaks ...

img_1026_malo.jpg

... and some of those slender, isolated trees look pretty cool. From here I could see the railway, and very soon ...

img_1027_malo.jpg

... I saw a friend walking down the rails.

img_1030_malo.jpg

We were in the village called Tzukrichi ...

img_1032_malo.jpg

... in front of the railway station Jurshichi.

img_1031_malo.jpg

Jursichi is another, slightly larger village situated across the main road, a couple of kilometers from here. I knew that it has a small railway station, but it was quite a surprise to find that station in another village.

img_1034_malo.jpg

We had a great time exploring this quiet place.

img_1036_malo.jpg

The ticket booth looked closed for good.

img_1043_malo.jpg

The window was broken. The door looked good enough but wasn't in a proper place so it didn't function as a door. The interior was a weird mix of demolished and well-preserved stuff.

img_1037_malo.jpg

The place was almost completely devoid of sounds that could reveal the presence of people. A vague post-apocalyptic atmosphere was permeating the entire village.

img_1028_malo.jpg

Here you can take a look down the empty rails.

img_1042_malo.jpg

In this photograph, I zoomed on the distant things at the edge of the field of view.

img_1041_malo.jpg

At one point, when we decided to leave the station ...

(Enlargeable)

... two little dogs appeared from somewhere.

img_1048_malo.jpg

They were barking a lot at first ...

(Enlargeable)

... but very soon it became clear that these are some friendly little dogs.

(Enlargeable)

They followed us for a while ...

img_1029_malo.jpg

... until we passed the place where the narrow country lane crosses the railroad.

img_1044_samomalo.jpg

This is an up-close look at the little pool of dirty water photographed on that crossing.

(Enlargeable)

These two complementary bicycles were photographed near one of the houses at the edge of the village.

img_1057_malo.jpg

Here you can take a better, more up-close look at the white one.

img_1058_malo.jpg

A bit further on the way back to the car, I photographed this lovely patch of moss.

(Enlargeable)

At the end of this walk, when we were ready to drive away, I noticed the parish church of the village Jurshichi. This pretty elegant piece of architecture was built in 1874.

AS ALWAYS IN THESE POSTS ON HIVE, THE PHOTOGRAPHS ARE MY WORK.

Looks like a nice walk with some interesting sites along the way. I like the photos of the frost covered plants.

Those are... cool...

Pun pun pun pun 🤣

😃

Those two dogs seems like they rule the train station. Beautiful frosty images.

:D True, it looks like the dogs have taken over the place.

I love small country lanes like that always interesting to drive down them and see what you can find which in this case you found so much I enjoyed seeign each and every image you shared with us

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :), I truly enjoy exploring the world virtually each Wednesday seeing walks from all around the globe and feeling I am there and experiencing it all myself, such as I did in your post just now :)

spending time in the forest area is the most appropriate choice

After all the curve you see in the road makes you find good things, see people, find a friend, take pictures of the man on the tractor, see the train rails, the station and the dogs that were looking for company, everything was nice, great work and great photos.
A hug

the pictures that you share this time, do look scary at night, thank you for sharing pictures from the countryside around where you live

nice places to walk or relax. thanks for sharing.

The streets are like the first photo, for some people in my place it is considered scary, especially at night without lights. Very funny
But I myself take it for granted, because I like the atmosphere like in the village.

Wow your picture is always very amazing

This is a great post with a lot of beautiful photography. Specially red fruit are amazing.
