I said imaginary walk and I already realized I was wrong. I don't mean an imaginary walk that was supposed to take place in places I've never been. No. I'm talking about a walk that happened once, long ago, and that I remembered, of course with a big help from photos I took once...
And yet, it's an imaginary walk now that, looking at the photos, I feel like I'm walking there again. A place that I don't know if I will ever be able to revisit and which must remain in my memory as the ultimate beauty that the sea can offer, even when you can't see it, but feel it in everything.
When you're on an island!

This walk I took when I first stepped on an island.

The island of Thassos in the Aegean Sea, Greece!

Every time I traveled to Thassos I lived in Limenaria. The second largest town (or village) on the island. On the outskirts of town, next to a pine forest.

A long path, almost 4 km long, went through the forest to the next village. A very small resort and beach. Pefkary!

When they are so close, to a path and a forest, what can happen? Plenty of walking, of course!

I even did a little trick. I decided that the coffee in Pefkary (actually not in Pefkary but in the next village, Potos, which is next to Pefkary) is better than the coffee in Limenaria. So I had an extra motivation for a rather long walk...

Morning Coffee The Morning Coffee Such a long path could not fail to pass by a church. Greece is full of churches. A very good place for a short rest. I said a short rest, not a final one! A long walk, but not monotonous. Because it's not just through the pine forest. There are plenty of olive groves by the sea. Then the landscape changes again. The trees disappear. Small bushes and shrubs take over the nearby hills. Typical Mediterranean landscape. I notice some shrubs I've never seen before. The fruit of one looks like an acorn made from oak... but it's not oak. I notice that there is a lighted path, I see the lamp posts. I think it may be a special night walk. This I have to imagine because I haven't had the courage to walk there at night. Around the corner, if I can put it that way, is the small village of Pefkary. A small resort, a few hotels, a few terraces, a long beach, and beautiful water! I have done this walk dozens of times. I can say I have this route tattooed on my brain. Fortunately! Because I can retrace it, in memory and with the help of photos. Although I haven't given up hope that next year I'll get there again. Make a point of looking around and up and see what you can find to get shots of that otherwise you may miss. This is one of the recommendations made by @tattoodjay for those who prefer walking and are used to sharing impressions and photos in his community, Wednesday Walk, every Wednesday, like this one today. A song by a Romanian singer, Doru Stanculescu, about morning coffee. It is in Romanian but can be listened to. It's melodious and so you can hear what the Romanian language sounds like... if you want that, of course!

Sometimes I also like to view old ohotos and relive the memories. Yours are gorgeous! I like the colors of the sea, and a boat, and long shadows of trees 😍
These photos are a retreat into fond memories, they are a cure.
I hope the time comes soon for a holiday for you and your family, @zirochka
I think of it more as a way back walk rather than an imaginary walk but I do get what you mean I am sure it triggered wonderful memories of your time there
From what you show us of this place it is so beautiful
Thanks for joining the Wednesday Walk :)
Yes, you're right, it's a way-back walk.
The island was pretty crowded this year. But should be more chill in 1 or 2 weeks. If you are still considering going there :)
I was always only in the second part of September. Unfortunately, this year is lost for me. Maybe I will make it in early summer 2024. Thanks, @chrislybear, and sorry for the late reply!
Awh I am sorry to hear that! Wish you the best for next year!

As you said that it's although original walk but you are again remembering. So, this line reminded me of William Wordsworth poem daffodils. I don't remember the exact line but the explanation of the lines was that William Wordsworth said he will always remember the sight of those dancing daffodils and that sight will always gives his mind pleasure.
Thanks! I don't know this poem but the comparison is very good, certain memories can produce much pleasure.

Thank you!
You described a special past walk and the island's beauty through photos, hoping you can revisit.
Yes, thank you!
The way we see these places are very beautiful especially when one goes to such a watery place and sees the boats and big ships, it is a lot of joy.
Beautiful and meaningful photographs that show the beautiful natural landscape well. Thank you very much.
