The World Health Organization on Friday declared an end to the emergency phase of the COVID-19 pandemic while emphasizing that the health threat is not over.
"Yesterday, the Emergency Committee met for the 15th time and recommended to me that I declare an end to the public health emergency of international concern [PHEIC]," WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said in a press briefing Friday. "I have accepted that advice.
A CRUEL UPSIDE-DOWN
The WHO declared the PHEIC more than three years ago on January 30, 2020. Since then, the UN agency estimates that at least 20 million people have died from COVID-19, while the virus SARS-CoV-2 caused profound disruptions and devastation worldwide, leaving deep scars.

Its not longer emergency to the world, that pandemic. It can’t be said the world is free from it as there are still cases. Things haven’t gotten good but it could be said that we’re in a better time.
But a lot of people continue to live with the debilitating effects of post-#COVID19 condition.
In as much as analytics have managed to this decison, the response doesn’t require eradicating all the systems put in place to fight. It doesn’t require to throw all our ammunitions and say there’s no war but build defenses. Its not a ctrl+alt+del, its more like a complex shift. Move from the emergency 🚨 stage to a stage where with all knowledge, experience and caution, the management stage.
It’s happening, its well on and of we loosen our guard we’ll trip. Its time to brace ourselves, we may not be fighting any battles but we are still definitely at war with the Covid-19
