I was digging through some old digital files recently and found this drawing that I never had posted. It's funny how you can totally forget about pieces you spent so much time on or maybe I was just keeping it for myself. This quirky little character has been sitting in my google photos for ages, so I thought it would be the perfect one to share for our next Draw This In Your Style challenge.
I remember really focusing on the different textures for this character I was trying to get that thick, wooly feel for the blue sweater and that scratchy woven look for the basket. Those big blue eyes were the very first thing I drew, and they kind of lead the whole whimsical mood of the piece. I used a mix of digital brushes to try and mimic traditional layering, especially with the fur and the patterned hat.
Since we are keeping the creative energy going here on Hive, I’d love to see how you guys interpret this character. Feel free to change up the colors, the background, or even what's hiding inside that basket. This isn't a formal contest or anything, just a fun way to stay active and see all the different ways we can sketch the same idea.
