How I Turned My Phone Into a Useless App Graveyard

in Hive Learners2 months ago

Today’s topic prompted me to actually count the number of apps I have on my phone, and after counting, it’s safe to say I now understand why my phone has been very slow these past few months compared to when I first got it.

I have a total of 95 apps. Now ask me how many I actually use out of them 😪😪

Now I think useless is a bit of a strong word, but in this case, that’s the perfect word to describe these apps. Being that I have 95 apps on my phone, I’m sure the useless ones among them are more than 30. There is just no way I’m actually using all of them.

I can’t possibly touch on every single useless app on my phone, so I’ll just pick a few of them.

The first useless app I have is the Adobe Acrobat app.

It’s used to read and access different kinds of documents on your phone, just like WPS. I remember downloading it on my current phone because I had it on my old one, and I love the “read aloud” feature that gets the app to read a file out loud to you.

As time went on, I guess I lost interest in pdf books, and consequentially, my use for the app diminished. I can’t even remember the last time I opened it.

No. 2 on the list is the Google Assistant app.

Now not only do I not need this app, I also cannot get rid of it since it came along with the phone and is a system app. I’m one of those people who goes directly to Google to ask it any questions I might have. I have never purposely opened this app and used it for the purpose it was intended.

No. 3 is the Blue Room Care app.

You know those ad videos you come across on Instagram that make an app sound so amazing you can’t resist? Yeah, this was one of them. I stumbled upon a video talking about how this app was your one-stop app for all things mental health. And as a girl that was seeking to take her mental health seriously, I decided to see what it was about.

After downloading and perusing through, I decided it was not for me. But instead of deleting it, I forgot about it. Now here we are.

No. 4 is the Coin W app.

This one’s a crypto trading app that apparently gives you some capital to start your trading journey. A friend of mine introduced it to me and a bunch of other people. What I picked out from her explanation was that you have to be an experienced trader in order to participate, as they are very keen on you making gains.

I decided it wasn’t for and only opened an account to help her with referrals.

No. 5 on the list, Palmpay.

Where do I start on with this one😅😅. I first downloaded it when they commenced the 2000 naira for every referral promo. This was when I was in nursing school and was basically a broke student hustling for her daily 2K.

I managed to refer some people and got rewarded for it. But then I got tired of it as money wasn’t coming in as frequently. So I deleted it. I only re-installed recently to help with a friend’s referral.

If you got rid of it, will it affect your life in any way?

If I got rid of the aforementioned apps, I think my life would actually become better because that would mean the load on my phone would reduce, aiding in faster system operation. If this could get my phone to work faster, then I am all for it.

In fact, let me delete them, real quick.
