This is where the "you dress how you would like to be addressed" quote comes into play. However, organisations that hire people because of how good they dress could always run at a loss. Because I have observed that a majority of the 'smart/intelligent' people out there do not care about their looks. Nonetheless, that shouldn't be an excuse to look haggard during a job interview.

Intelligent people who are hungry don't need anyone to tell them they should look good when going for an interview. I mean, what does it even cost to look good?
