Transforming Politics: A Call for Change and Leadership

Politics, they say, is a dirty game, and because of that popular phrase, many shy away from having anything whatsoever to do with it, forgetting that if the well-meaning and empathetic people were to ditch it, then we'd be left with the heartless and self-motivated individual to join, win, and determine the affairs of the situation for everyone regardless of whether you participated or not.

Politics, as we all know, is associated with leadership and the activities of governing a particular set of people or territory, which simply means politics, and those who are involved in it, known simply as politicians, are in the helms of affairs in a particular territory, so giving room for only the heartless people to fill up this space would literally, in my opinion, spell doom for such a set of people and their nation at large.

To tell the truth, politics is a dirty game, but that's not entirely true. In my opinion, it's because we left the bad egg at the helm of politics, and that's why they've made it what it is today. If we were to have a good set of people in politics, I can categorizely tell you that the story will change in such a territory where they've got those sets of people ruling them. I can tell you for a fact that they'll disagree with the statement that politics is a dirty game.

To start with, I've never been in any form of politics that involves ruling a set of people. During my school days and while growing up, I tried as much as possible to run away from any form of leadership, though that isn't totally because of my fear of politics but because of my introverted nature and the will to be in the background rather than the main character in any setting. But growing up, I've had a different mindset, even though I've still not taken any steps towards joining politics.

But then, would I join politics? This seems like a hard decision to answer, especially as someone who means well for my country. This is very common in this part of the world where I reside, and that's the fact that if you happen to be a politician with a truthful heart that longed for the betterment of the people, I can categorically tell you that your life is in danger because most of the people we've ever had in my country have all been killed via various possible means that can't be traced back to the bad politicians, even though we all can agree with the US that they're the death of such politicians.

Well, I've got to give an answer to that rather than giving scenarios and beating around the bush, so my answer is yes, I'll love to join politics. I mean, we can't keep running away from politics and yet complain of having bad leadership ruling us and ruining our beloved country. In my opinion, why not be the leader you've always dreamed of having in your country?

If it's about fear for your life, I can tell you for a fact that although we should be mindful of our lives, that's the number one mindset the bad eggs in politics want us to have, because they believe having such a mindset alone will make you abstain from joining politics. But in my opinion, at the end of the day, we'll all die, so why not be different, and be the difference that you've always longed for in your country's politics.

If I were to join politics and end up rising up in rank, I'd love to change some of the following ill traits of politics, and I believe if it were to be successful, it'd change the face of politics and be about good governance that favors the people going forward, and some of them are listed below:

• Corruption: this is the order of the day in most top world countries, and it's so disheartening to see it keeps growing by the day, and this is detrimental to the people and the future generations of such countries where such exist, so if I were to change something about politics, I'd love to bring all corrupt politicians to book and completely eradicate corruption from politics.

• Manipulation: Politics is known to be the den of manipulation, where all of the related stuff takes place, from manipulation of results to pushing false narratives to gain public empathy and the like. This is one of the tools politicians use to demoralize the citizens, meaning politicians who tried to do the right thing at the right time. I believe if manipulation can be curbed, then the nation would have a better possibility for good governance and quality of life because employment would be manipulated, as would election results, justice, and the like.

• Salary/allowance and multiple pension earning streams: politicians dive into politics because of the enormous amount of money they'll earn. Personally, every single politician in my country today is there because of what they'll earn and not for the love of the people. If you want to know the real people who care for the people, make politicians earn the same wages as the lowest earners in the country. Many of them will leave politics to work towards increasing the wages of all sectors, so they can also earn a lot.

Alongside that, I talked about multiple pension earnings mediums. Politicians in my country get a pain pension for every single position they've ever held, meaning if someone had been a LGA chair, honorable, governor, senator, or president, he or she would earn separate pensions for this position. I think this is pure stealing and a way to loot from the country. I mean, why get a pension for working in an office for 4 years and then get that for different positions you worked in? But an average citizen in your country has to work for 30 years to earn peanut pensions.

So with the above-listed illness, if politics were corrected, I believe the country would be in good shape and move in the right direction towards making lives bearable for the citizens, because it'd bring about good governance.
