I have always wondered how the world lived without a phone, seeing how important it is to daily living these days. With the advancements in technology and the immense value a phone provides now, it might probably have been an ackward way to live, and maybe even boring.
I might be speaking the mind of so many others if I say the introduction of the mobile phone has been a catalyst to many positive developments in the world today. From regular feature phones, the mobile phone has become a whole lot smarter.
Today we could do so much with our phones. To most of us it is practically our office, our go to for all things. We could perform simple or complex works with them. We can get any information we need with these devices . For entertainment, our phones are a sure source . The things our phones can do for us can only be imagined. For so many they are a complete companion.
However, as our phones got smarter, so our needs for them kept increasing. More than ever, we keep discovering more areas our phones are needed. This on its own has led to addiction in so many people. Statistics shows that one in seventeen people are highly addicted to thier phones. With the sophisticated features embedded in them, it is easy to see the reasons for these addictions.
To put in perspective, the mobile phone is an invaluable tool for anyone. As an independent worker and one that depends on the Internet for everything, I have a million and one reasons why it should never be far from me, even for a second.
Still, situations arises and we can't help but put them away. Sometimes for as much as days. The reasons are well worth it though.
As one that trades the financial market, I have had days I don't look at my phones. For one, trades are better analysed and executed on bigger screens. A mobile phone does not show all the details. I might be in front of my computer for the whole day with my phones off. Sometimes I might have to make presentations with a projector for a very long period. In these scenarios I hardly remember my phone.
Another thing that would keep me from my phone, in this case for a long period, would be in the area of my spirituality. As a Christian, sometimes I would want to separate myself from things around me and take time to pray.
For me, at these times, everything is a distraction, most especially the phone. I could put it off for up to three days, even more, to enable me focus better on this exercise.
Apart from occasions my phone had to spend at the technician's workshop, these two reasons are about the major reasons why I could stay without my phones for a considerable length of time. Each time this had to happen, I see it as a necessity I can't help. Come to think of it, I am one that is not that addicted to a phone. For me it is a tool that serves a purpose and not all purposes. Once there is a purpose different from the one it serves, I easily switch. Even if it means me being without it for days.
It's a reminder that while technology is essential, there are moments where disconnecting becomes vital for overall well-being.

Yeah, once in a while it is necessary to free ourselves from technology.
It's important to take breaks from our smartphones from time to time in order to improve our overall health and wellbeing.
Exactly, addiction to it could be very bad
We need to place our priorities right while using mobile phone. That’s the place of purpose. Once we understand this, we won’t fall into addiction 🤔
I Like How You capture it. we really need to get our priorities right. there is 2 ways about that.
