A Broken System, A Broken People

Ever since I was born, my mum had instilled the fear of Islamic extremists in me. Now, I've seen it with my own eyes though, I have experienced persecution in my place of work and school. For real ... Guys, tune to the recent happenings in Nigeria, it is horrific. Christians are lynched and slaughtered in cold blood. In fact, the terrorists, their killers are screaming "Allahu Akbar" similar to the Isreal-Gaza conflict. The screen shot below is a circular message forwarded to me today by my close relative about the kidnapping that would take place soon.

Once, I would hear that there's no crime that the rules of law can't overshadow. This isn't the same today in our Nigeria. Right now, we have division within the government and the people.

Please, pray for us...

Nigerians are peaceful and loving people but these terrorist are the black sheep amongst us. Recently, the US threatened to designate Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC). This issue ended with the US probing Nigeria; however, there's a surge in these terrorist attacks. In fact, of late, they attacked a church where an elderly woman was trying to run, the scene is chaotic.

Terrorists are granted amnesty, while freedom fighters are jailed for life. I don't want to give examples but it is what it is. Hmmm! How pathetic this is. An unjust law is indeed no law at all.

Allegedly, the so called repentant terrorists are now insiders in the army, and they're loyal to their former master. All our past leaders have carted away our wealth, leaving us with scraps. It's like the masses are left to fight for the leftovers. I currently don't know what my faith tomorrow will be, but it's my duty to speak up and fight using my words. If we don't hold our leaders accountable, they won't do anything. There's bloodshed everywhere and mass burials... Tears! Tears! No one is happy!

Concerning the circulating question of Nigeria being a country where Christian genocide thrives, it is the truth. Muslims have been killed, Christians have been killed, but the killing continues. These killers aren't Christians or Muslims, but Islamic extremists. Allegedly, the Boko Haram we see today was created by the Nigerian political party APC, and the Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. This group is dominating northern Nigeria.

Far north, we have terrorism. In the Middle Belt, we have banditry, terrorism, and Fulani herdsmen attacks. In the South, we have banditry and a bit of herdsmen attacks. Allegedly, northerners cooperated with Boko Haram terrorists when they came with the notion that Western education is haram, but now the story has changed. It's like saying, "Oh, we support you to fight against Western education and all, but when it escalated to terrorism, you remembered that these kids have become dry fish."

These problems were created by the Nigerian government for the masses. Why are we suffering from the insecurity you created? The fact is that Nigerian security personnel are being paid less than usual, and this is frustrating. Additionally, our security system doesn't have a structure, sorry to say, it doesn't. No sophisticated weapons are being used. Drone employment isn't properly utilized, and thermal detection devices aren't well employed. Terrorists like this can be attacked at night with special goggles. I don't even think our military forces can fight these guys, as it's obvious we can't fight war, and the government should sign a security deal with other countries.

Apart from the fact that terrorists have infiltrated the system. I recall that one Nigerian air fighter who recorded successful missions against terrorists was been killed in something they called an accident, which obviously was planned. This is really bad, indicating that our soldiers and leaders don't want to fight terrorism because it's politically regulated. What's in it for them not to fight it once and for all? Why do we masses have to suffer for the actions of our disloyal leaders?

Did the northerners permit it? Yes. Did the southerners fight against it? Yes.

Education is a key method to build the nation of Nigeria, in addition to other counterterrorism devices. If there's swift surveillance, I believe soldiers would be able to fight back swiftly. Geolocation devices can be sent to various homes that could trigger military awareness on time. This reminds me of the movie The Great Debaters.
