OBSERVING FROM A RETROSPECTIVE STANDPOINT || Who Has It Better?

To start with, it’s pivotal that we understand what "happiness" really means. Happiness is a state of mind that comes from contentment. We must not confuse "pleasures" with "happiness," as they are not the same thing. Physical comforts cannot and will not provide happiness.

I'm not sure anything meaningful can be said in response to what you wrote in one short comment. And that's because when I start thinking about happiness these days and happiness in the past, I don't seem to find happiness at all. I do, of course, a retrospective with the lives of the generations before me in my family. All of them had a very difficult life, conditioned by the times they lived in - slavery, wars, communist regime, etc.
All this affects our modern life. It cannot be otherwise. But I think you're right. Our ancestors had other, perhaps lower criteria for achieving happiness. They achieved it and enjoyed it. And we today, modern people, are not capable of that.

The world today has put a price tag on the type of happiness one should have which is why no one is ever content because they always want to achieve more and more and more.

I would say it is during our time that Abraham Maslow's idea of human needs was evident— which says that we would always desire more as we achieve one stage. Our forefathers were contented because they worked for the little they desired and enjoyed their lives, especially with families. There was integrity and honesty among each other but today, we can't find those traits in all people; only a few.

With this angle of your post, I will also agree that our forefathers lived happier life than us today because everything today has to do with the rat race to achieve what we want.

Yay! 🤗

You are welcome. Your content is great and I had to support as a whale with Ecency point since my HP value is low 😁😁👏

Indeed... Society has changed over the years. It's no longer where you can come to celebrate your wins in peace and fellowship. Instead it's now a hotspot for all forms of competition. Very sad.

Thank you for sharing this with us.

i would admit you hit the point when it comes to contentment, our fore fathers use that to win us... There are so much advanced technologies now that people need money to buy and without money no way one can derive the happiness he needs, our forefathers didn't need much because there was no much to begin with, all they crave for is food and happy and lovely kids... things have changed now.....

I have a question for you... Would you prefer the old life style of contentment to this modernized world filled with lot of dreams to achieve?
