For the many efforts I put in to make sure I was able to read for over an hour, it became a trouble. I dipped my legs in water and chewed gum, but nothing seemed to work. I couldn’t think of taking coffee because of the effect on my health, so I tried many other options that seemed to not work.
One day, after the one hour passed, and I was unable to assimilate anything, I decided to plug my ears and listen to my favourite music at the time. It was a newly released Brymo track titled “Yellow”.
At first, it was calming, and then, it was as if it was clearing my head, and then, I didn’t have an explanation, but I realized that my assimilation rate with the music started to get better.
Gradually, I read for an hour thirty minutes, and then for two hours, yet I wasn’t tired. I only felt hunger, and I stood up to eat. Then, I returned right back to the reading table. I was shocked.
Many times, I’ve heard people talk about how music helped them assimilate better, but I’ve never tried it. But when I did, it worked like magic.
When you discover good music, and you realize the effect on you, you never want to let go of that song. So, it took a while before I stopped listening to Brymo’s yellow album on Boomplay because it was helping me achieve the things I needed to do at the time.
Currently, things have changed. I rarely read or work with music anymore, except I’m taking a break, however, I found a new favourite song for a new purpose… working out.
I used to only do yoga when I newly started working out, and the solo music played by my YouTube instructor played a part in making me focus and do the poses right. However, recently, I tried another form of exercise, and I found a supporting music that made that enjoyable.
First, Maher Zain’s live it up, and World Cup song, Tahaya.
The Tahaya especially has a way of preparing my body for the entire workout session, and make sure that my body is in the loop until the end of my 45 minutes workout session. The song awakens my happy hormones, and makes sure that I am ready for the day with all positivity as much as possible.
I’ve been listening to the song for a while now, and I’m yet to get tired of it. I listen to it even when I need to take a break from work, and I just need to move my body around a bit. Tahaya does that for me.
Maybe I’ll get tired of it when I find another favourite, but for now, even ‘Live it up’ has a little chance of being played in a week when there is ‘Tahaya’.
