Holidays are undoubtedly an important part of the calendar; the moments no one should ever let slide by without making use of it to the fullest.
There are roughly 365 days in a year, and we have toiled hard for at least 330 days of them, trying to make ends meet. Taking just the 14-21 days rest to recuperate and rest is not only necessary but well-deserved; even if you haven't achieved all your goals for the year, you've had a good run at it and have given it your best shot. Believe me when I say you've earned it, so take it with no remorse.
The holiday periods should be a time to momentarily pause from the daily grind as it offers us an opportunity to spend cherished moments with friends and family.
My holiday will be starting a bit late this year, probably because I'm now incharge of it unlike when I was in school that the school calendar dictates when it will start... I will be starting my holiday fifteen days from today and I've planned it in the most fun yet pocket friendly manner. But holidays aren't just about the calendar dated—it’s all about the mindset.
Once the decorations lights up every corner with every junction having that spice of Christmas in it coupled with the endless carol echoes from one edge of the town to the another, you sure will say the season has already began.
I will be doing "Na Collabo" spending, hehehe, because I will be spending the period with both my friends and families... How can I do without the other? It's not possible. Where would the fun lie without such gatherings that breed memories, bring delicious meals and a sense of togetherness?
I will be travelling to my hometown for the Christmas celebration this year and I really can't wait already... I will get to meet my distant cousins and spend time with them also.
I will spend the Christmas with my family over there in the village, then three days after will be for my friends.
Every 28th day of December is the day my secondary school classmates holds their annual reunion; we get to see each other spend time together and also remind ourselves of how it was going "through hell" studying in our school even as we make new memories.. it's always the anticipated day of my holiday because I get to laugh till I can't laugh anymore, it's quite fun.
From there, I will be visiting my maternal home to celebrate the new year with them.
Holidays won't be complete without indulging in some festive funs and I've got this covered.
"Olenyi day" as my village calls it is held every 27th day of December, it's a mythical celebration of respecting the man that birthed our community. It's arguably the greatest occasion in my village and it's done in the community's spacious secondary school with almost every one; both young and old in attendance and I'll be attending it.
Will work creep into my celebration? Well, unless hiving becomes a work, then I'll answer yes to that question but no hospital will be seeing my footprint within this celebration season, I want to have enough rest and recharge for the tedious year ahead.
Indeed, there are various ways we can spend our Christmas celebration and there is no strict "right" way of celebrating as we've all got different plans; what actually matters is just doing whatever that brings you joy.
Thanks for reading and have a nice day ahead 👍
