Loosing The Human Touch

Recently I watched the rise of invidia company after their stocks exploded and made their company a billion dollar company. Before the popular rise of invidia I had no big interest and what they do even though they have a significant pull or should I say presence in the market? During their documentary I saw a part where they said they are working on some advanced AI models which will be out in the early future.

The thing about AI and all it does has always been a controversial topic for most people. For some people AI’s if made to do a lot of thing will tend to lay off people from their work places and their positions cause they wouldn’t need them at those areas any longer. According to some people machines and AI are not capable enough to handle delicate tasks which humans can better control. The

This brings us to self driving cars. Self driving cars concept has really evolved. I remember back in the day self driving cars were being talked about so much as things of tbt future and that they would change the game. Fast forward to a few years and or should I say many decades self driving cars are a thing now.

First of all I’d like to say that I appreciate the technology behind self driving cars but then personally I don’t like self driving cars. In the olden days the self driving feature in a car could only activated for a few minutes on a long straight road where the car could badly make mistakes. Now, self driving cars have been made to move on their own without even having a human component in the car.

For me, I know even if I’d be driven by a self driven car I’d still need a driver in there to be able to react as fast as possible. But then for now I know I wouldn’t invest money into buying a self driving car.

When it comes to roads I think my country can boast of bad roads. It’s appalling to see how bad the state of our roads have become to a point where drivers have to dodge pot holes to avoid getting their car recked.

For me I know our area won’t be conducive for a self driving car and bringing such a car to my area will be a waste of resources.

In the case of an accident happening I don’t think accidents can be blamed so much on a single factor but then AI has proven countless times that at times when it has been tasked with doing something without supervision it can make mistakes and I would definitely say they we should blame the machine instead of the company that made it. Well in some cases we can tend to blame the company that over hyped the car for customers to have a lot of faith in it to even trust it enough to do task which are beyond it.

So at the end of the day self driving cars are promoted as a thing of the future and all that but me I don’t think I’d trust a self driving car to a greater extent.

I totally agree with you, there are certain tasks humans are better off handling than AI and driving is one of them, especially here in Africa, our bad roads are enough reason to decline.

😂😂, even where they were made I’ve seen several videos where the self driving cars fail at doing simple tasks. There was a video where a Tesla was asked to park but it drove off instead.
