Festivities of END of the Year!

Well folks, the year 2025 is coming to an end. It seems that each year that passes, time seems to go by faster than the previous year, I don't know how to explain why. Scientifically, this should be impossible, but I believe many people have the same feeling. Even though some holidays, like Christmas, have several somewhat strange aspects, they are still important for gathering and spending time with family. Below I will talk a little about Christmas and New Year's!

End of the Year Festivities - Christmas

The end of the year is marked by the holiday festivities. The first of these is Christmas, a time when the family gathers for dinner, awaits "Santa Claus" or "gift time," and makes the famous exchange of gifts. It's quite curious because it's a date, if I'm not mistaken, to represent the birth of Christ, but today it has been completely altered into a date for giving gifts and the Christmas figure of Santa Claus. Another curious point is the decorations, which are generally related to a Christmas tree, the pine tree, red clothes with hats, and lots of snow.

The curious thing is that several countries that don't have any striking characteristics related to any aspect of this representation of Christmas, do it as if they did. Here, the main tree isn't a pine tree, but the Christmas tree is shaped like a pine tree; here it doesn't get as cold as in Christmas movies where it even snows, but we wear hats. It's a very strange holiday if you think about it. I believe that what should be important is the family gathering around the table to talk; who doesn't like the Christmas table and Christmas food? One of the great things is precisely the Christmas food, which has many delicious things, like panettone, which should exist at all times of the year and not just on a single date, don't you think?

End of the Year Festivities - New Year's Eve

Continuing, right after Christmas comes the end-of-year celebration, which I don't know about you, but here it's like a continuation of Christmas with fireworks. The decorations continue with the Christmas vibe, with all the ornaments still Christmassy, the tree still up. One of the key changes is in the clothing, which shifts from red to white and gold. There's a whole mystique surrounding the colors and the new year, which I don't know who invented.

An interesting point is that, since the whole family gets together, they end up cooking a lot of food, and some of it is leftover and becomes New Year's Eve food as well, with a few additions. I think it's quite simple, there's not much difference, the food is almost the same, the family gathering sometimes with the same people as at Christmas, sometimes not. But the big difference is when it starts to get close to midnight and the fireworks begin to go off; it's truly a magical moment, even more magical than Christmas itself. An interesting detail is that before the fireworks there's always a countdown and New Year's Eve programming, with songs and presentations on TV.

É pessoal, o ano de 2025 está chegando ao fim. Parece que a cada ano que passa, o tempo tem passado mais rápido que no ano anterior, não sei o explicar o porque. Pela ciência, isso deveria ser impossível, mas acredito que muitos tem essa mesma sensação. Por mais que alguns feriados, como o natal tenham diversos pontos meio estranhos, ainda são importantes para reunir e passar um tempo com a família. Abaixo vou falar um pouco sobre o natal e o ano novo!

End of the Year Festivities - Natal

O fim dos anos é marcado pelas festas de fim de ano. A primeira delas é o natal, momento em que a família se reúne para um jantar, espera o “noel” ou “momento dos presentes” e faz a famosa troca de presentes. É bem curioso porque é uma data, se não me engano, para representar o nascimento de Cristo, mas hoje ela foi totalmente alterada para uma data de entregas de presentes e de uma figura natalina do noel. Outro ponto curioso são as decorações, que geralmente são relacionadas à uma árvore de antal que é o pinheiro, roupas questes da cor vermelha com gorro e muita neve.

O curioso é que diversos países que não tem nenhuma característica marcante relacionada à qualquer ponto dessa representação do natal, o fazem como se tivessem. Aqui a árvore principal não é pinheiro, mas a árvore de natal tem formato de pinheiro, aqui não faz frio como nos filmes de natal em que chega até mesmo a nevar, mas usamos gorros. É um feriado bem estranho se for analisar bem. Acredito que o importânte deveria ser a reunião familiar em volta da mesa para conversar, quem não gosta da mesa natalina e das comidas natalinas. Um dos pontos de grande acerto é justamente a comida natalina, que tem muita coisa gostosa, como os panetones, que deveriam existir em todo momento do ano e não só em uma única data, vocês não acham?

End of the Year Festivities - Ano Novo

Continuando, logo após o natal vem a festa de final de ano, que não sei vocês, mas aqui é como se fosse uma continuação do natal com fogos de artifício. A decoração continua com a vibe de natal, com todos os enfeites ainda natalinos, a árvore ainda montada. Um dos pontos de mudança é nas roupas que acabam saindo do vermelho para o branco e dourado, tem todo um misticismo com relação as cores e o novo ano, que não sei quem inventou.

Um ponto curioso é que como a família toda se reúne acaba fazendo muita comida e uma parte acaba sobrando e vira a comida de ano novo também com alguns incrementos. Acho que é bem simples, não tem muita diferença, sendo a questão da comida quase igual, a família reunida as vezes com as mesmas pessoas do natal, as vezes não. Mas o grande diferencial é quando começa a chegar próximo da meia noite que os fogos começam a subir, é realmente um momento mágico, que chega a ser bem mais mágico do que o natal em si. Um detalhe interessante é que antes dos fogos tem sempre a contagem e as programações de ano novo, com canções e apresentações na TV.
