WHAT IS EXPECTED OF A SURROGATE MOTHER…

What a beautiful day to talk about a controversial topic like SURROGACY. If only i had an in-depth knowledge of this topic, i would have loved to dissect it into bits and pieces for the sake of my readers, that way they’d be able to understand where I’m coming from and where I’m going to with my points. Unfortunately, i don’t know much about surrogacy, the knowledge i have about it is very limited, more like a surface level kind-of knowledge. I owe this knowledge to the movies i’ve seen in the past. I have seen a couple of movies that featured surrogacy in them, and thanks to them I will be able to share my two cents with you all on the topic…

Surrogacy is not an everyday situation, especially in a country like mine. Over the years, I don’t think there has been any major controversies regarding a subject like surrogacy. The funniest thing about this whole matter is that I haven’t witnessed it up close before, but then I know it happens. You can’t expect me to have an in-depth knowledge on something i haven’t witnessed closely before, I have only heard them happen but not witnessed them in person. In this part of the world, surrogacy is not rampant, it might be happening low-key but then the statistics about it is quite low…

SURROGACY RIGHTS

The fact that there’s always a need for a written document to be signed by both the surrogate mother and the couples in need of a child has made this whole process less difficult and easier to approach. The reason why there’s always a written and signed agreement between both parties is to prevent any unwanted confusion or outcome in the near future, either from the surrogate mother or the couple in need, this written contract is mostly drafted because of the surrogate mother, especially those who are overly emotional and sensitive…

Honestly, surrogacy is more difficult than it looks. You won’t know how it feels until you go through it personally. To be a surrogate mother is not easy, especially to the set of mothers who get attached easily. Being a surrogate mother is not for everyone, and that’s why there’s always a written agreement and contract binding both sides to the law, that way there won’t be any unforeseen conflict in the near future…

When it comes to surrogacy, the surrogate mother is only known to be the carrier, her duty is to house the baby in her womb for nine months until delivery, after the baby has been delivered, the surrogate mother is expected to disappear from both the baby’s and the couple’s life forever. This is the importance of the written contract and agreement before the whole surrogacy procedure begins…

A carrier will always be a carrier, especially if there was money involved in the whole process. This means that every written rule must be followed to the latter, and failure to comply completely will lead to legal actions. The role of a surrogate mother is more or less like an incubator, your womb is used to carry the baby of another family for the whole of 9 months, and after the baby is born, you disappear from its life, and the couple takes over as the biological parents, and the surrogate mother never returns, and that too after every drafted condition has been met by both parties to the latter…

As a surrogate mother, you have no say whatsoever in the affairs of the baby after its birth. You have played your role, now it’s time to go by the rules, disappear and never look back. Act like it never happened…

In conclusion, the role of a surrogate mother is to house the child for 9 months, birth the child and then go her way, depending on what is stated in the contract and agreement…
