PLACING A BAN ON PERSONAL MEAT CONSUMPTION…

in Hive Learners11 days ago (edited)

If i can survive a whole year without eating meat in school, then nothing, I mean absolutely nothing can happen to me if i one day decide to stop eating it for the rest of my life. After all, of what major benefits does this so called meat contribute to the body that other protein giving food can’t provide. I think it’s high-time we travelled a little bit back in time for a quick recap, I’m talking about our respective days in primary school where we all were taught the six classes of food. If i’m not mistaken, i think this particular topic was treated in Basic Science those years, and from what i know meat is classified as a protein giving food…

Mind you, under the six major classes of food, we have protein which is said to be responsible for repairing worn out tissues. This means the protein is responsible for growth, repair and the metabolic processes of the human body. There are numerous examples of protein giving food, we have poultry produce, fish, milk, beans and so on. Incase you don’t know, meat is not the only source of protein for the human body, in the absence of meat, there are several other protein giving foods that can act as replacement for it. And from what we have up there, there’s fish, egg, beans and many more…

I believe with everything you have right there in my second paragraph, it is now clear to you that staying away from meat consumption for the rest of my life is as easy as spilling the milk. Moreover, i have been in school for a whole year and the number of times I’ve consumed meat/ chicken is very little compared to the number of times I’ve consumed dairy produce, the likes of eggs and milk. This is the life i’ve been living for a whole year in a foreign land, i eat more of fried eggs than meat, and now it feels like I’ve got excessive protein in my body, lol…

Staying away from meat consumption would have a little to no effect on me. Wait guys, let’s look at this in a different context, what if i was born with an allergy to something that is only found in meat, do you think i will die from not consuming it? No, i won’t. The only thing i need to do is to adapt to a live without it. If i can adapt to such life, then nothing can happen to me…

Honestly, as a person, I don’t really fancy meat. I mostly eat it when there’s a special occasion in the house, and also on some normal good days, like the first week of every month when my mum goes to the market to get the month’s worth of foodstuffs, which is mostly accompanied by some vegetables, peppers, fishes and meat. This is the only time we consume meat in the house, it’s not really a frequent event…

In conclusion, i don’t think i will ever find myself breaking the ban of meat consumption, i just need to convince myself that it’s bad for my health and then i automatically replace it with another protein giving food. There’s fish and egg as substitutes. So therefore, no more meat consumption is definitely a life i can live by…

Going a whole year without eating meat not that you are vegetarian is something a lot of people cannot do.

Ajeh my bro... thanks for stopping by manchi

It's a bit strange story line. You start with questioning if you could live without eating meat (replacing it with other proteins containing foods) and end up on trying to find out how to convince yourself meat would be bad for you?!? Why would it have to be bad? It's your choice if you don't want to eat it but it doesn't need to be bad...

My personal opinion is that other proteins cannot fully replace meat proteins and minerals in meat...

Hive Power Up Day - January 1st 2026

Personally, I went vegetarian for about three years in my teens, and it wasn't good for me personally, as I was not following a healthy diet to compensate. I suffer from a hereditary vitamin B deficiency which means I am inclined to suffer from bouts of anemia. I have however, lived with vegans who cook the most incredibly delicious food and it is certainly a sustainable way of life<3

I wish you a prosperous new year, full of love and joy and the best of luck with your journey of vegetarianism <3
